Invite to June 16 launch of project born of ICT4D

From: Janet

Dear all,

Ugo and I are happy to announce the first event - two weeks from today - of our new "Restart Project" that aims to promote repair and better relationship with electronics "here". We all know what amazing and resourceful repairers live in other parts of the world through our work "4D" - but we would like to spark a renaissance of repair in "rich" countries.

Our project will grow from online and offline synergies - we will build community of repairers and those who  repair through pop-up "Restart Parties" in Camden and Brixton over the next year, but we are also working on building an online platform to rate and map repair resources - to help those who need a quick fix. The platform will be the Yelp! or Trip Advisor of repair, and will very much need input and participation of people like you!

So on June 16, we would like to invite you to be a vital part of our project by attending the first "Restart Party" - bring a screw driver, a soldering iron, some sugru, or if bring something electronic to repair. This includes laptops, mobiles and other devices that are "playing up" or running slow. We are planning on occupying an airy, open space in the Camden area (still confirming...!) from 11am-4pm. There will be tea, coffee, cake and good music.

Please read more on our blog and follow us on Twitter @RestartProject.

If you like the idea, invite friends, neighbors, family members. Contact us to RSVP and let us know if you have something you'd like to repair with us.

Your sister and brother in screwdrivers,

Janet and Ugo
