Differentiating Intuition from "judgment" -CANCELLED

In the last meet up, we talked about personal experiences of
Intuition and “just knowing” things about people or events

We briefly explored the validity of these experiences; and the difference
between intuitively knowing something (through subjective “aha!”
moments) and passing judgement prematurely, without fully understanding something

I thought it would be interesting to explore these intuitive
experiences in depth and dissect them. Have you experienced “just knowing”
things about people? Why do you believe these experiences are valid and true? Have
you ever known things instantly about people, and subsequently found your instincts were correct/incorrect....how do you explain these experiences?

I had to pull out yesterday, as we had a plumber coming over this evening. I am glad you will re-schedule Tracey, as it does look like an interesting topic. J

I won't be able to make it tomorrow, so it's great to know you might repeat this meetup. It's a really interesting topic!

Shame you cant make it Carmen! the discussions we had last time about intuitive experiences intrigued me. I would like to understand more about these intuitive experiences and why we believe they're automatically true

Too bad as Tuesday would have been good for me! However I will pass on this one as I am still recovering from a busy weekend of fun.

Interesting question as I wonder what will be your terms of reference when it comes to intuition and judgement. For instance, the latter, in my "books", can be understood as an outcome of either intuition or a well thought-out set of logical arguments.

Personally I like Herbert Simon's definition of intuition when it comes to experts such as chess masters and like Daniel Kahneman I take that this can be extended to our everyday intuitive experiences:

"The situation has provided a cue; this cue has given the expert access to information stored in memory, and the information provides a clear answer. Intuition is nothing more and nothing less than recognition."

Wishing you all a good chat!

Hey JC! I might repeat this topic next year. Sorry to hear you cant make it. I was referring to Jung's definition of Intuition within his theory of typology, and by "judgement" was referring to the layman definition (outside of the MBTI) In hindsight I would have clarified this but ive been very busy....like yourself, but busy with work not fun lol
