Creating a permanent London Game Space: Meeting 2

For a while now, we've been toying with the idea of creating a more permanent space to work on, talk about, and show off our games in London. Think Hackspace, but specifically for game development!

This is the second meeting. Don't worry if you didn't make the first one, a log of the first meeting is online here, and we'll summarize it also at the start of the next meeting!

On the agenda will be possible venues and experiences of existing similar spaces. If you have contacts who also (tried to) run projects like this, please contact them and ask them for advice, ideas, and potential mistakes!

Could someone post a link to the portal that we are communicating through. I want to help in the role i volunteered in at the meeting but don't know where to go!

Yeah! There's a group of 6 here. We've got a table at the far end of the bar (nr stairs)

We're sat downstairs, right near the bottom of the stairs :)

Not quite confirmed yet, but it's likely going to be in the Penderel's Oak near Holborn.

If this event still needs a location then why not postpone it to the TIGA Game Hack at the weekend and get many more people involved? (Or do that as well.) Hoping to make it either way.

Google Campus might also be worth taking a look at, they're on a large scale but have a combination of event space, free public coworking area, private hot-desking space, and private permanent desks. That could be a good model to follow.. Paid private workspace upstairs that is used to fund free public workspace & event area downstairs.

I won't be at the meeting but just leaving this here in case it's of use, the Melbourne dev community have recently put together something very similar, a permanent coworking and event space, with several resident indie studios -https://mobile.twitter.com/TheArcadeMelb/

    Hi Robin,

I'm really keen to promote our Android Monetisation solution to Indie Developers in London- The Vserv App Wrapper:- www.vserv.mobi/appwrapper

If you're seeking a sponsor to dip their hand in their pocket for beer and pizzas at the event, I'd be happy to do so.

The "Mini-Bar" meet-up group run a similar type of event each month in Shoreditch

    All the best,
    Laith

Thanks Laith, but I don't think we need sponsorship for this event. I will let you know when there's an Android-focused event coming up where a sponsoring like this would be more appropriate!

Location will be confirmed; possibly the London Hackspace. If we're too many, The Roebuck near Borough Station might be a good alternative.
