London Indie RPG Meetup

How it works: Come along for 12:00pm and meet folk. At 12:20 GM touting starts. Everyone who is going to run something says what it is they will run, up to how many players can be accommodated and what the game is about.

It might be GM led or it might be more of a story game with the expectation that everyone contribute equally. When this is complete everyone says what it is they want to play. If there's more of us we'll use sign up sheet and if there are fewer then it's easy to sort out.

At 12:30 your group grabs a table and starts playing! The slot finishes around 4:30pm This process repeats at 5:00pm for the second slot.

Well, I quite liked Potswold but now that she has no beard... the magic is gone.

An awesome first session diving into Dungeon World, DMed (can I say that?) with panache by Alex, followed by an really fun/gonzo second session trying to survive the rise of the zombies in Dread (who knew Derren Brown had so much to answer for?), huge thanks to Steph for running! Oh, and an awesome game poem (Femme Fatale?), and drinks and conversation afterward. Huge thanks to everyone for such a fun day - as per usual!

Some sadness and some gladness at today's indiemeet as Piers TEH MAGUS!!!11!!1! wrangled his last pitching sessions as he steps down from the role of Indiemeet Overlord. The gladness is, as always, more new faces, more new games and our regular happy state of having more punters eager to pitch than we have players to fill them. Two sessions are just not enough for all the gaming goodness on offer!

    This month:

    12:30pm slot

Fiasco (Area 51 playset playtest) - Piers +4
    Hillfolk - Rach +4
Stuart's Fairy Tales (sans Stuart) - Adam +3
Dungeon Crawl Classics (the level 0 adventure) - James +4
    Dungeon World - Alex +6

    5:00pm slot

Dog Eat Dog - Robert +4
My Life with Master (Vaudeville) - James +3
UnAmerican (Hot War Mythos hack) - Scott +4
Dread Jenga (Zombie) - Steph +4

Next Indiemeet will be 15th December, but before then some folk from Indiemeet will be running "(Indie) Games on Demand" all day at Dragonmeet on the 1st.

Very good, only disappointed that I didn't get to run the game that Scott wanted!

Ah, so you're not spam. Apologies Lucy, I'm on an awful lot of forums and your post seemed to fit that particular bill. Welcome and I hope you have fun.

I'd be more worried about the D&D spam bot that seems to have hijacked some of the main user accounts. Now where's me dungeon tiles and 28mms....

Thank you for your replys, would it be ok for me to come to the second session at 5.00pm? as i can't make the first session at 12.00pm?

      November 17, 2012

    • Alex G.

That should be fine, we normally start around 4:30ish in the afternoon. If the games have started just find a group to jump in with.

I think we should all pitch D&D style games to freak out Piers.

This is like a Christmas Carol... *in hollow deathly tone* "had you never started indie meetup, this is what would have become"

      November 16, 2012

    • James J.

      LMFAO!!!
In that case I'll change it from DCC, to Pathfinder....actually I dont want Piers to sacrifice me on the alter of his Indie gods, I'll stick with the slightly less outragous DCC.

Anyone know what they're running yet? I'd like to get in another playtest of Where The Heart Is. Interested to see what other folks have got up their long velvety sleeves...

:'( I'm only here for 1.5 sessions this week, so I cant even pitch both. You'll have to wait a month!! :-D

*cough* *splutter* And I was just starting to recover from the shock of hearing that Piers had brought a game with armour save rolls to Indiemeet. Hm.. Maybe there's a trad counter-reformation being fomented, with legions of DMs plotting to overthrow the Edwards-Baker reforms of the early 90s. We must root out these snakes in the lazily-waving indie grass. I got my eye on you matey...

You'll never find us all, we are in cells hidden throughout your players and friends. We have hidden our DnD PDFs, within encrypted locations on our computers, my Brothers and Sister will rise again, with the 5th Edition as our leader!!!!! Mahha ha aha haah
      <Rolls a 1>
      Ahh CRAP!!!

You think we haven't infiltrated your gaming tables? Look around you. See that guy to your left, assiduously totalling his abilities, his specialisms and his stress and encumbrance modifiers? Don’t you notice the faint aroma of patchouli oil hanging over him? And that girl in the corner dressed as an elf, don’t you see how she subtly and co-operatively weaves the other players’ stories into her own narrative? No, we are coming for you. And we will use your own weapons against you, turning plough-shares into longswords and sunbeams into fireballs. There is no hiding place.
