Let's go to the south coast area between Eastbourne and Brighton.
There is lovely countryside in this area, which is part of the South Downs National Park.
The plan is as follows (subject to change, depending on weather etc):
- We will take a bus to Beachy Head to admire the views from the top of the highest chalk cliffs in Britain.
- We will walk down to Birling Head, where we can walk along the beach and admire the chalk cliffs. This takes only about an hour and is mainly downhill and on flat grass
- We will stop in the pretty village of Rottingdean
- We may go to a beauty spot a few miles north of Brighton called the Devil's Dyke, with lovely views across the hills of the South Downs.
Birling Gap, Beachy Head, Devil's Dyke, Rottingdean Windmill
8:45am Meet at London Victoria, near Nero Express (the branch which is close to platform 11, next to some moving stairs and WH Smith's, opposite the main ticket office).
I will be wearing an orange scarf (and may be carrying a small green flag).
My mobile number is 07984 257572.
The cost of joining this trip is £30 - please pay in cash on the day. The price covers the cost of all transport (train and buses) plus a contribution to the organiser's costs. You will need to bring some extra cash for food and drink. If you want you can bring some sandwiches for lunch.
We will leave London Victoria at 9:17am (arriving at 10:44am in Eastbourne)
We will plan to catch the 8:19pm train from Brighton, arriving back at London Victoria at 9:10pm.
