Let's make a day trip to Windsor
8:30 Meeting time at London Waterloo
Meet Mark under the round clock at Waterloo train station (this is near the main ticket office). I will be wearing an orange scarf. My mobile phone number is [masked]. Pay £40 in cash when you meet me (if possible please bring the correct amount).
We will be taking this train:
8:58 London Waterloo - 9:51 Windsor & Eton Riverside
The exact itinerary will depend on the number of people coming and weather, but will include:
- Entry to Windsor Castle. We will spend at least 3 hours there. Note: there are no places serving food inside, so you may want to take a sandwich to eat inside the grounds. You can watch the Changing of the Guard from inside the castle between 11am and 11:30am. Other things to see inside include the State Apartments, the Dolls House and St George's Chapel.
- A sightseeing walk (led by Mark) within Windsor
- Tea at a local tearoom
- A boat trip on the river Thames. This is a 40-minute circular trip
- A riverside walk along the Thames from Windsor to Datchet (if the weather allows)
We plan to return to London before 8pm (taking the train either from Windsor & Eton Riverside or from Datchet)
The £40 cost includes the cost of the train tickets (travelling together with the rest of the group), entry to Windsor Castle, the boat trip and a contribution to the organiser's costs. Please pay Mark in cash when you meet him at the station. You will need to bring enough extra cash for your meals/drinks.
