Let's visit Leeds Castle in Kent (which has been described as "the loveliest castle in the world").
The planned timetable is as follows:
9:15am Meet Mark at Victoria train station. The meeting place is outside the station entrance to a pub called the Iron Duke, which is in the section of the station containing platforms 1-7 (there is a Caffe Ritazza and a branch of Burger King nearby). I will be wearing an orange scarf, and my mobile phone number is 07984 257572.
We will leave there to get on the train soon after 9:30am
9:45am Train leaves London Victoria
We will travel from the station to Leeds Castle, arriving before midday.
We will spend about 4 hours at the castle, leaving at about 4pm. This gives us plenty of time to explore the castle rooms, maze, gardens and to watch the falconry display. There is a place for lunch and/or tea inside the castle, or you can bring your own sandwiches if you prefer. Rides on a chauffeured punt around the moat are available for £5 extra.
We plan to arrive back at London Victoria at 7:21pm
The fee for joining this trip is £40. Please pay this in cash to Mark when you see him at Victoria train station. This includes all transport and your entry ticket to Leeds Castle and its grounds. You will need to bring extra money for food and drink.
