Getting started with Julia

Skills Matter ask that, as well as RSVP-ing via the meetup group, you also register for the event with them via their website on :

http://skillsmatter.com/event/java-jee/getting-started-with-julia-programming

(I've no idea why they have put it under "event/java-jee" )

This is the inaugural meeting of the London Julia Users Group.

Julia is a relatively new programming language of interest in the emerging field of Data Science. It has many features to commend it over existing approaches, not just it's speed of execution.

The discussion will comprise using Julia on all platforms: Linux, OSX and Windows; getting up and running, the Julia package system and Julia Studio IDE, plus any teething problems, trials and tributions.

Towards the end of the session there will be opportunities for any current Julia users to describe their experience with the Julia languages and aspirations for the future.
