Meet up, have a good moan over a few beers!

This pretty souless central London Weatherspoons makes an ideal  temporary meeting place as just sitting there will provide fodder for us moaners. We can always move on to a more trendy place later if we fancy moaning about the price of drinks but for simplicities sake let's meet at this Weatherspoons on Charing Cross Road. It's central and close to a few tubes.

Should be kinda fun! If we can get 4+ of us to go should be a good starting point.

No doubt some of you will moan about location and time...that can only be expected. Can't please everyone!

I am feeling hollow and empty as I cannot find grounds to moan.

I laughed a lot and came home a wiser man.

Hi, I had trouble finding the venue so I thought I should just skip this one otherwise I'd arrive unbelievably late. I don't know the area that well, sorry guys.

Right that's two of us here so the shy people can meet us at table 52, a pillar by the end of the bar.

Hi Michael, Welcome to Random Moaners. If you get there for around about 7pm, you will see me in a yellow shirt& blue jeans near the bar, I wont be wearing a hat. Also check the others moaners photos who are attending so you have a better chance fo finding us.

Ah well at least Marnie should be easy to spot, can't be too many Panthers in central London. I shall be in a startingly loud white shirt with blue flowers and a beard. Less silver than in the picture though.

Am I to late to join for this evening? If not how will I recognise you lot?

    August 12, 2012

  • Simon P.

Ok moaners, I guess I will see some of you at that lovely Wetherspoons. I'll be having a beer at the bar just before 7. So yeah will see you in there. I'll wear a yellow shirt so you know it's def me and don't just start whingeing to a total stranger. If anyone needs a mobile number incase they get lost/delayed or that bar is mobbed (unlikely) just email me and I'll pass it on. Ta

Yes, Weatherspoons is economical for me. And I am encouraged that a lone pub chain is standing up to the rampant economic fleecing of ordinary people in London. It also provides a home to the exiled working classes and disenfranchised London Irish whose pubs have been appropriated by those who wish to disassociate themselves from their roots and pretend - with their identikit houses and Boden uniforms - that they are culturally, socially, educationally and morally superior to the common man. Wetherspoons stands for good sense.

      Good rant :-)

I heard Dickens penned the quote " It was the best of times and the worst of times" from inside a Wetherspoons in central london. He must have been drunk at the time as if he were sober I'm sure he would have just written "It was the worst of times".

I meant to be at Jamaica House! Will there be a screen to watch the closing ceremony of the Olympics?

    August 11, 2012

    • Simon P.

Hi Thelma, Welcome to the Random Moaners club. I have no idea if they will have a big screen there, they may do but I really don't know.

Go on, David. Tell us about REAL hardship. Baked beans seven days a week?
I once went to Jersey, ran out of money and ended up eating seaweed as part of my five a day. Only recently have I found out that you can't eat all types of seaweed.

sadly I can't make the inaugural moanfest - hopefully next time :)

    August 10, 2012

    • Simon P.

Well Couldbe, it could be that the odd Sunday afternoon could be arranged in future if it gets you out of the sticks and away from those country bumpkins and the snails pace of life out there. Every urbanite needs the roar of traffic, the wail of a police siren and the glare of a traffic light otherwise they begin to lose themselves to a world of slow countryside walks and redneck encounters. No doubt see you in the future.
