For the sunny May Summer Bank Holiday weekend's sailing trip we'll head to the beautiful and tranquil East coast, picking up the boat on Friday in Ipswich and returning on Monday afternoon.
Most people find the experience of sailing on the East coast a pleasant change from the busy Solent; it's much less developed with some beautiful rivers, often providing challenging tidal entrances.
Depending how promptly people arrive on Friday night we plan to head down the river Orwell from Ipswich and pick up a mooring for the night off the Butt and Oyster pub, where we'll have dinner. Then we'll head out and, depending on the conditions, set sail for one of the many beautiful rivers in the area - our choice includes (but is not limited to), the river Deben, river Ore, north up the Suffolk coast to Southwold etc.
The Marina is a 10 min walk from Ipswich station, which is an hour on the train from Liverpool street, with trains departing every 10-20mins.
Included in the price:
Yacht charter (roomy 38ft Bavaria cruiser), food, snacks etc on board, mooring fees, fuel, safety gear, wet weather gear
Not included: 1-2 evening meals ashore.
We need to leave the boat as we find it, undamaged and clean, otherwise charges will be made from the security deposit, which will be passed onto the whole crew.
What to bring:
Hat, sun block etc
Shoes - rubber soled non-slip, that won't mark the boat eg trainers usually ok, if you don't have boat shoes.
Sleeping bag & pillow case
Layers, incl warm fleece and rain jacket
Please bring a treat (food/drink/game?) for the group to share and your own drinks for the evenings.
Please ensure you understand the Group's Refund Policy before you reply 'Yes'.
