Iain McKenna on the tough stuff

What's causing your Scrum team pain? What is getting in the way of your team delivering working software in 30 days or less? This is your chance to ask the questions that you just have nobody to ask day to day and to get some useful insights that will help you and your team tomorrow. And remember - there's no such thing as a stupid question (but there are unfortunately stupid answers).

Iain McKenna is a trainer, coach and practitioner who has helped organisations such as United Health, BBC, Cisco and BskyB, adopt or improve their use of Scrum.
Iain has over 30 years of experience ranging from operations, analysis, testing, software engineering, project and programme management through to IT Leadership.

My first time at the user group. I found the experiences that we shared very valuable and also the relax format very useful. Thanks!

Thanks for addressing the tough stuff with us yesterday, Iain. And thank you to all the attendees for joining us. Victoria: good point about the mingling before the event. We really should take advantage of the fact that Skill Matter opens their doors at 6:00. There are lots of things we can do formally or informally in half-hour run up to the session.

Very informative and nice flowing format. Had more questions so let's do it again!

Alex, I'd love to do it again - hopefully I will be invited back in the future :)

Brilliant, very useful, definitely some stuff I can really use. Would have been maybe more interaction if a few people were having a tea or coffee outside in the run up and encouraging people to join, everyone sitting in seats too early maybe made the room on the quiet side and it was almost 8pm before people loosened up.

Our company is looking into adopting a partial scrum process, so this was a very insightful, balanced talk and discussion. By any chance will the video be made available at some point?

Some great take-aways from Iain's talk - shame we only had 90 minutes as it was warming up nicely! Although I still see the value of story points, I'm going to explore Iain's ideas on estimating with my teams.

It was really interesting and very motivating to improve the practice and the way of thinking in my team

Big thanks to all who attended and made this such an enjoyable experience. This was the first time I've done this and I will use your feedback to inspect and adapt. Hopefully I'll bring invited back at some point to do this again.

Thoroughly enjoyed the evening though, and learnt a lot talking to Iain after the event as well. Many thanks.

The questions flowed onto discussions that were open and enthusiastic. Seeing how to describe the benefits of scrum in purely business terms was beneficial.

Only negative comment about skills matters venue - needed spoons/stirrers. For the event, questions asked beforehand should have been printed & voted.

Maybe it would have been good idea to print pre-submitted questions and put them on the board together with today's questions? I also felt that little bit too much time was spent with questions from the audience when lot of popular questions from the board were not covered at all.

I'm afraid I am sick too and will not be able to attend tonight's session. I was really looking forward to it. Do we know if it's planned to be recorded? Skill Matters usually posts the podcast after the session. That would be really helpful :)

One more place for the waitlist members because of a flu...

Unfortunately man-flu has got the better of me. I hope this change of rsvp is in time to allow someone else to make it. Will there be a summary posted up after the meetup??

Can't make this now. Hope you all enjoy it.
