The sailing area is the Solent, the area of sea between the Isle of Wight and the mainland.
Places normally visited, Hamble village, Port Solent Marina (Portsmouth), Cowes Isle of Wight,Llymington, Beaulieu River and Poole depending on tides and weather.
The marina’s we spend the night in have good facilities.
You can get involved with the sailing duties as much or as little as you like.
The yacht is ours from Thursday 16:00 but they will allow us aboard earlier to check out the inventory and possible early departure.
Some of us are aiming to sail from Hamble to Portsmouth on Thursday departing 16:00 arriving Port Solent Marina near Portsmouth about 19:00-19:30 or earlier if everyone arrives early.
The purpose of this is to maximize the weekend by letting everyone see another port and to give us a better sail the following day. Those that can't get away early Thursday please meet us at Port Solent marina near Portsmouth Thursday evening.
Port Solent is a modern marina surrounded by bars and restaurants.
Yacht entry to the marina is via a lock so you see that in action.
Those that came on the train to either Hamble or Portsmouth we will try to arrange transport to the nearest train station. The same if any cars are left at Port Solent Marina it is only a few junctions further down the M27 so can be dropped off there.
I am aiming to get to Hamble by 12.00 for lunch then sort out the boat.
Anyone can join me from then.
Thursday afternoon and Friday morning I will give a safety briefing and familiarize everyone with the yacht before we set off.
The yacht size is 37 feet which can accommodate up to 8 of us comfortably.
We sleep on the yacht in shared cabins. to book on send me an email or message
