weekend away in dartmoor £6 a night!

am popping to dartmoor with http://www.hawog.org.uk/destinationdartmoor.htm Cost: About £50 for the 3 nights (for full, casual and prospective members). Hostel has agreed to hold rooms briefly, so please pay full amount, or deposit £10, as soon as possible. You can also camp at the hostel for £6 per night.

Activities: Hostel is on the edge of Dartmoor. Activities will include a circular walk of about 12 miles in bluebell woods and onto the high moor with distinctive granite tors and climb to the highest point in South-West England. Options for other days will include a shorter walk of about 8 miles or mountain bike hire is available at the hostel. There is direct access to the moors and you can enjoy the permitted routes over Dartmoor. The Granite Way is a fantastic off-road route along the old railway line skirting the edge of Dartmoor with great views of the castle. Okehampton Castle and the Dartmoor Railway are nearby. You will need summer walking gear, plus rain or sun protection, depending on the weather. Plus suitable clothing if you intend to go cycling or take part in other activities which may involve getting wet.

Refreshments: Breakfast and evening meals are available at hostel. Hostel restaurant serves locally sourced food, beers and Devon cider. Hostel is on the outskirts of Okehampton, the town and many pubs and restaurants are in walking distance. Hostel has a self-catering kitchen. Packed lunches may be needed for the walks which can be ordered from the hostel or make your own.

Travel: Car sharing to be arranged. M4, M5 route, about 3½ hours from Harrow, depending on traffic. Public transport - train to Exeter, then bus to Okehampton. About 4 hours total journey time, depending on connections. to book go to
