Animations, Transforms, Drag & Drop with Boydlee Polentine

This location is shown only to members

We'll kick off 2012 with Boydlee's new Titanium cookbook and  FREE sample chapt. 7: "Creating Animations, Transformations, and Understanding Drag-and-drop". Those interested in coding along are asked to bring their laptop and download the FREE sample chapter in advance (contains image files used in the workshop).

The workshop will be broken down into bite size chunks with plenty of time for questions, and individual assistance. This is a rare opportunity to get some Titanium experience with a true master.

Everyone coming to the meetup, please use Mobile SDK 1.7.5 to build the example project - as changes in the current SDK will affect the dragging of images. Also there is a slight typo http://boydlee.com/appcelerator-titanium/appcelerator-tit...

I am starting from scratch with titanium, do I need to have a good level of experience with Titanium for this talk/workshop? I do however have a good knowledge of javascript.

    Hi Quinton -
Thanks for your question. All that's required is that you come prepared by downloading and installing your environment (i.e. Titanium and at least one of the SDKs). Boydlee will divide the workshop into bite-size sections and we'll be working with his recipes (first half-baked - then miraculously pulling the complete product from the oven before moving onto the next section). During "lab time" there will also be plenty of time for questions & assistance as needed. Looking forward!

great! don't want to be over whelmed as although it is one technology that is on my 2012 list of todo's for development I have not started! - it was on my 2011 todo's but never happened - like most new years resolutions :) - Looking forward to the workshop!

Hi All - just a quick reminder for those attending this evening - please make sure you have Titanium installed and your environment setup properly. Extra credit if you bring a nice clean head shot on disk too!

Liz, if we don't have Titanium installed on a laptop I assume its still relevant to come along? (and watch!)

Absolutely! In fact, I will suggest we partner up. Would like to have newer members sitting among Titans. In my experience, everyone benefits from others' questions.

I'll bring some USBs as well with the code already there so you don't have to type everything. but it really wouldn't hurt to download and print the PDF - that way you can make notes and it might be easier to see than the projector screen.

Thanks Joe - you just did ;-) though this was one of my questions for Boydlee. 1) how to incorporate pinch/zoom gestures new in 1.8x; 2) what needs to change in chapt 7 code in order to work with latest SDK?

I have got it working on the 1.8.x branch of the mobile SDK - Boydlee knows about it, perhaps we can do some improvised jamming around the code if we have time once we've covered all the basics of the chapter.
