Have you ever felt the urge to walk on hot coals?
Are you looking for a challenge, an opportunity to push your boundaries and increase your confidence?
Here is your chance! : )
On Tuesday 19th November 2013, I am doing a firewalk (on 20ft of wood embers burning at 1236 degrees Fahrenheit) to raise funds for the Women’s Environmental Network (WEN) Local Food Project and in particular Tower Hamlets Food Growing Network project. The Network is made up of gardeners of all stripes, from community gardens and allotments, to businesses and individuals growing food on roof terraces or balconies. The network consists of quarterly events, email newsletters, a resource directory and a community seed library. It’s facilitated by a partnership of organisations and co-ordinated by WEN.
I have done this fundraising firewalk for WEN back in 2010, and am looking forward to repeating the experience. It’s great fun! : )
If you would like to join me, you need to :
a) Read the Firewalking Participants Briefing Pack
b) download a registration form and email it to WEN at [masked] or [masked]
c) pledge you will raise £150 sponsorship money
d) start fundraising and/or join Adventure Go! team on JustGiving https://www.justgiving.com/teams/adventure-go
You need to do this as soon as possible, as the event takes place next week!
Alternatively, if you can’t make it to the firewalk, but would still like to support the project, you can sponsor me via my JustGiving page:
Or if you would just like to observe and support, come along to the St.Matthias Community Centre around 7.30pm for live music, hot mince pies, spiced cider and apple juice, THFGN stall, community seed library, and a ravishing raffle - all in the glorious grounds of St Matthias Community Centre in Poplar.
Live music courtesy of folk duo, Benny & the Cheesegrinder, performing balkan gypsy folk tunes on accordion and viola.
