10,000 Years of History Beneath Your Feet!
Join us for this exciting walk along the foreshore at low tide in Central London, find unexpected treasures and hear some of the fascinating history of the tidal Thames.
The walk will be guided by a true expert - Dr Fiona Haughey, an Archaeologist & Archaeological Illustrator and Director of the Archaeology on the Thames Project, as well as the author of “Neolithic Archaeology in the Intertidal Zone”
Bring a little bag for the goodies you're going to find: medieval roof tiles, Elizabethan clay pipes, something Roman perhaps, or even Mesolithic! You may only pick up what you can see lying there, and any items of significant archaeological interest must be reported to the Museum of London.
Please wear sensible shoes – like walking/hiking shoes or trainers. No sandals! We will not be much mud where we’re walking, but the Thames foreshore is filled with glass/metals and uneven surfaces and so you do need to wear something that covers and protects your foot.
