This group is for you if you yearn to spend more (or any) time outdoors, exploring our wonderful British countryside. We will meet once or twice every month (starting mid-July 2013) to do a day-long walk easily accessible by train from London, and we'll aim to have lunch or end each walk in a pub or cafe, before heading back to London. This group is aimed predominantly at women over 40, those who have walking experience but no-one to walk with (i.e., you have friends whose eyes glaze over at the prospect of a day outside of London!), as well as novice walkers. This group will be all-inclusive and I'd particularly like to encourage black and ethnic minority women to come along and get outdoors. Walks will be of varying levels of difficulty, so there should be something for everyone at least every few weeks. My vision for this group is to create a friendly, inviting, all-inclusive group of women who love walking and the outdoors, and are also up for trying new things, such as climbing, camping and kayaking. I love being outdoors and I want to share the experiences with like-minded ladies, so my motives are (almost) entirely selfish! Now for the disclaimer: I am not a qualified walking guide (not yet, anyway), and so, you are responsible for your own safety. This means that you will be fairly self-reliant, you will bring along a copy of any route directions I share and will aim to use them.
I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
