Ballroom Blitz in Holland Park

Viktoriya Wilton's quarterly dance. This time there will be a focus on waltz and foxtrot to modern pop records as well as the usual Latin. It's a well maintained sprung wooden dance floor. The bar is pleasant, cheap and has unusual and tasty Ukrainan finger food snacks for under £5 per portion.

The level of dancing is high and the crowd friendly. The last time I would guess the attendance at around 80 guests. There are professional and amateur shows and demonstrations that don't last too long. The official host is Andrew Cuerden and the contact phone number for more info is[masked] 875.

Tickets are £15 in advance through their web site, which is

www.inspiration2dance.com/ball

or £20 on the door

There will be a free rumba lesson at 7.30 pm and a free drink on arrival, which is usually a cocktail or glass of Prossecco. This is a good place to meet other ballroom dancers, and there are more younger dancers than most places.

Viktoriya is hard working, dedicated and maybe the best dance teacher in London. Her classes are certainly well prepared, organised and she works her students hard from what I saw when I visited one of her classes.

Sorry Audrey, I wasn't there on Saturday. I go to most but not all of the dances. I do prefer live music to records so try to always turn up to the dances with dance bands and orchestras.
Ballroom dancers are generally suportive of each other, as are gays, and you should never be shy to speak to or approach a stranger at a ballroom dance. You will find that after a while one starts to recognise familiar faces as one goes to more events. Stuart is of course a wonderful example of a commited and helpful dancer who very much suppots Viktoriya with her efforts at her dances and classes and those who attend

I'm hoping to go to the savoy on sat, the band looks great, hopefully i'll meet the meet-ups.

I agree with you but I think Meetup men should approach the Meetup woman first in case they think they recognised her. Maybe it was too crowdy and often men think I am much yournger then 43 and they skip I will see the other ones

Well, I'm sorry if you only spoke and danced with the people you already knew. Personally, I am in the habit of talking to and dancing with people I haven't prefiously met when I go to a dance, but I'm old and am not afraid of speaking to strargers But your experience does demonstrate the social advantages of going to the Colliers Wood and Balham Excelsior dance schools.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
