I publish Business First magazine, a new B2B title for London. 75,000 copies will be distributed in the City, Canary Wharf, West End and premium travel outlets. We believe business is poorly served by business journalism in this country and aim to correct that through the celebration of enterprise, ideas and the core values that underpin great business success. Our next edition is published in May 2014, with Sir Martin Sorrell on the cover, editorial from Nicola Horlick, Rory Sutherland, Tim Price and others, and features on Sir James Wates of the Wates Group, Barry Hearn and design guru Zeev Aram.
I am interested in anything that delivers insights that will help business do a better job. One of our core drivers as a business magazine is that the UK market does not get to hear about some of the breakthrough management thinking that readers of American magazines take for granted. We hope to change that. I wonder if we in Britain are great traders but not very good at business so we focus on the deals and the bottom line - the What and the Why, if you like - but are less focused on the How. I do not profess to be an expert on cognitive-behavioural theories but would like to learn more.
I am a writer, journalist, broadcaster and editor. My early years experience was as a foreign correspondent. Now my focus is business.
