I think my interest in going to a games night has changed as I am discovering the games are for the young intelectual. I was hoping for something more simple like word night table board games etc. Maybe in the future. As dumb as it's sounds even Charades can be a lot of fun, even for adults.

I'm guessing you were roped into playing something like Agricola. There are a lot of games that take half an hour just to explain all the rules, and often even after that you only have a vague idea of what's going on for a little while.

There are a lot of simpler games though that can be learned pretty easily. We have a guy who brings a game called "Time's Up" which is kind of like charades. We've also played a game called Timeline which is incredibly easy to learn and play. It's not all complicated strategy gaming.
