Do you like Lego? Do you live in London? Are you old enough to buy a drink in a pub?
This is an early evening get-together in central London for Adult Fans Of Lego (known as AFOLs). It is suitable for anyone over the age of 18 who likes to build with Lego, no matter what their skill-level is. All are welcome. The idea is to have fun with Lego, and meet new people who also like messing around with Lego.
Usually we take over a section of the pub, buy a drink, tip out huge amounts of Lego bricks and get building. Some meetups are more structured than others with games, sets and competitions; other times it's just free-build. You might also find people swapping the latest collectible minifigures.
We get together on the second Monday of each month, usually at The Princess Louise pub in Holborn, where good food is also available. Occasionally, we hold our meetups up at other locations. These have included outside on the grass of Gordon Square (in the summer), Lego's London office, the Brick exhibition in Excel and Legoland Windsor.
The group has its own stock of LEGO, so no need to bring your own.
People - We attract a wide age range of all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds. We are about 60 / 40 male:female. Attendance is around 30 - 50 people.
Photos - members take pics and upload on to the Meetup site, or (very occasionally) the London AFOLs Facebook page. You need to be comfortable with a picture of you appearing online playing with Lego.
Donations - we don't charge a fee, but we do pass round a donation tin at our meetups.
N.B. We are an independent Meetup group organised by Lego fans for Lego fans. We are a recognised Lego User Group, meaning we have a cordial relationship with the The LEGO Group in Denmark. However, we are neither part of the company nor controlled by them.
