Cultureseekers Annual Quiz (for charity - Breakthrough Breast Cancer)

  • This location is shown only to members

Come along on Saturday 18th January at 6:30pm for our Annual Quiz for charity!

When you arrive we will randomly divide you into teams of 4 people (or you can pick your own team).

The quiz will be based on the places the group has visited during 2013 and general knowledge of history.  It doesn't matter if you haven't attended any/many events during the last year.

We have an area downstairs reserved for the group from 6:30pm until 11pm.

Food is available until 10pm.

The prize for the winning team is 4 opera tickets (Suor Angelica).  There will also be prizes for the runners up.

The quiz is free to attend, but as it's for charity (
Breakthrough Breast Cancer), a donation box will be going round throughout the evening.

If you can't find the pub, please call or text.

Hope to see you there!

Robert

Thank you Robert for organising this quiz which was great fun. I learnt a few things, too. Would have liked to stay longer afterwards but trouble with trains meant a convoluted journey home.

Sorry, wanted to join another winning team as done last year but problems with rail travel back to South coast tomorrow eve. Trains cancelled Fri eve and more rain expected on Sat. Have experienced more rain this week than during all of my 3 months' travel in the USA from Oct onwards.

    This charity conducts/funds animal research.
Which is a no for me.

I think to call people fools because they don't share the same opinions as you is more than rude.

I think Robert is a fantastic person to organise events. I choose to support this one. Some people choose to support other events and causes. That's where we are all really fortunate. We live in a place where we can express our opinion. Perhaps someone could organise a separate evening, a debating evening, where people can practice their debate and question and answer skills. The topic could be the use of animals in research for medicine designed to help humans.

I second what Ruthy said. I had a couple of cancers in my 30s which may well have killed me 20/30 years ago. I have pets and always have had, but to be brutal, if some animals are tested on in the early stages of research so I, and millions of others, can live and lead productive, fulfilled lives then so be it. I make no apologies for my opinion, which I'm entitled to as much as those who have an opposing one.

Count me in. If a breakthrough had been developed some years ago, two very dear and close relatives may still be alive. Thank you for organising this fund raiser.

Robert, my question about food serving hasn't been answered... I wondered if that only relates to the first pub as the pic is still of the Albion.

This pub is serving food until 10pm.

I would like to attend. Will be my first event. Just want to know if I can bring a friend along or does she need to be a full member?

    January 15, 2014

    • Robert

Fine to bring your friend along.

      January 15, 2014

Robert, are you sure this pub also serves food till 8 pm as it's still in your copy?

    January 14, 2014

  • Robert

Please note a change of location to the Ye Olde London pub at 42 Ludgate Hill (it's only 200m from the original pub). We will be in the downstairs bar.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
