Come along on Tuesday 21st January at 6pm for a tour of the Government's Art Collection!
About the collection
The Government Art Collection (GAC) is very much a working collection and has been since the British Government began to collect works of art to display in 1898. Over the years the collection has expanded and nowadays contains over 13,500 works of art, mainly by British artists ranging from the 16th century to the present day.
Two thirds of the Collection are displayed in the offices and reception rooms of several hundred major British Government buildings in the United Kingdom and around the world. The rest are is held at the Government Art Collection building in central London awaiting reselection and display.
We will have the chance to see a selection of works from the Collection, hear about their history and get a behind-the-scenes look at works as they are prepared for display.
We only have 20 places available for the tour. The tour lasts about 1 hour.
Entry is £5 each which need's to be paid in advance to confirm your place (via cash at an event in the next few weeks or by Paypal: [masked]). You won't be confirmed on the event until you have paid.
Afterwards we will head to a local pub for a chat.
