Come along on Sunday 9th February for a trip to the National Army Museum!

About the museum
Situated in Chelsea, the National Army Museum relates the overall history of the British Army, British colonial, imperial and commonwealth forces and the British Indian Army as a whole from 1066 to the present day and its effects on national and international history.

The museum also has an extensive art gallery, which includes a selection of portraits, battle scenes and domestic interiors, horse portraits and camp scenes, dating from 1630 to 2000, by some of Britain’s greatest artists.

With 2014 being the 100th year anniversary of the start of WWI, the museum have many relevant galleries about the war.

I have some WWI and WW2 memorabilia from my grandfathers and great-grandfathers which I will bring along to show anyone who is interested afterwards in the pub.  If anyone else has anything, feel free to bring it along.

The museum has free entry!

Afterwards, we will head to The Surprise pub, 6 Christchurch Terrace for a chat over a drink.  Please indicate when you RSVP whether you wish to attend at 1:30pm or 2:30pm.

If you can't see us outside the station, please call.

Lookout for the group sign -

Huge museum and rambling, I did not realise it had such an extensive historical display. The Stuart period was particularly interesting and I met some lovely people. Thanks Robert

I agree, being able to handle those pieces of memorabilia made everything more poignant! ...PS Pili- I *think* you may work in special educational needs for children? If so, I would love to have a chat with you at some point in the future!

      February 11

    • Pili

Yes, I do, Verena, although I have been out of work for some time. And yes, we will have a chat.

Thank you for organising another great event! Sorry I didn't make it to the pub. Too busy in the museum!

This museum was a pleasant surpsise - I had been worried it would romanticise and promote war and the military but quite the opposite! Very well presented and some heartwrenching displays and exhibits. Wasn't able to take it all in in one visit so will have to return.

Sorry to hear about your puncture Russell - hope it was nothing to do with IED's and insurgent forces!

Brilliant museum, must go back some time. Good conversation in the pub. Only down side, got back to my bike at the museum to find I had puncture, so had that to deal with in the cold and dark :-((. Hey ho all part of the fun of riding a bike! Finally set of home 7:15!

Interesting and more manageable than Imperial War museum as was able to get round and see all exhibits - Napoleonic and First World War displays particularly good. Thanks Robert for bringing all your memorabilia to the pub.

It is an amazing museum - loved it. I need one more day. Next time I will visit it with my brother who is a fanatic of Military History. Every single soldier is a hero - only God knows what they have to go through... Thank you, Robert!

Very interesting, thanks Robert.. though too much to see for one visit. Got to floor 2 by closing time. They could also benefit from directional signs in galleries as it was a bit like a maze, hard to get out of, I found. Sorry no time for pub but would love to see your memorabilia some time if you could bear to bring them to another event!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
