On Sunday 16th March, come along for a visit to Bunhill Fields cemetery in the City.

When you arrive, we will split you into small groups to explore the cemetery together.

About the cemetery

The best time to explore Victorian cemeteries in London is during the Autumn or Spring.

Bunhill Fields cemetery was laid down in the 1860's and is known for its Nonconformist connections, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries and the burial of prominent people including the poet William Blake, writer Daniel Defoe, John Bunyan and Susannah Wesley.

The visit will be self guiding using maps of the cemetery (provided on the day).  Entry is free.

If you can't see us inside the station near the ticket barriers, please call or text.

Afterwards, we will head to the William Blake pub, 174 Old Street for a chat over a drink.

Lookout for the group sign:

Look forward to seeing you there!

It was a shame the paths were closed off so we couldn't see the graves, mostly, but I did enjoy the peace and birdsong of the surrounding gardens and it was good to find out when the Wesley Museum is open.

Hope it's not too painful. I was lucky in that I was taken to hospital for an operation and recovered but it does make you wary of riding again.

Regrets I now can't make this. Everyone have a fab time in the (rare) sunshine! Will definitely be at the Hammersmith Coffee and Highgate Cemetery meet ups. Friday's National Portrait Gallery visit was excellent!

Am I correct in thinking that we will not see the grave of William Blake. Not known where he is buried?
