Come along on Saturday 22nd March at 1:45pm for a visit to Highgate Cemetery.

About the Cemetery
The cemetery opened in 1839 and is known for it's ornate Victorian architecture, it's the burial place of some very famous people, notably Karl Marx, physicist Michael Faraday and John & Elizabeth Dickens, parents of Charles and models for Micawber and Mrs Nickleby.

We will be visiting the east cemetery only.

Group entry is £4 per person and includes a map.  The visit is self guided and we will split you into small groups to explore the cemetery together.

Afterwards we will head to the Star pub, 47 Chester Road for a chat over a drink.

If you can't see us outside the station, please call.

Look out for the group sign -

Hope to see you there!

Regards

Robert

Interesting walk, nice company, but spoiled by the perennial irritation of being forced to listen to unnecessary, loud rubbish belching out of the pubs loudspeakers. I complained twice but the volume was gradually ratcheted up again. It's such a problem in London pubs where we have to suffer this noise pollution. It massively detracts from any conversation. By the way I'm a music lover, but that wasn't music. It's social engineering designed to make conversation difficult thereby making us drink more.

I missed a bus then a train (due to morning accident) that meant i would not get there in time. I don't know whether I could have turned up late and contacted Robert, but by the time I had missed the train, I was too stressed to want to risk going and not being able to get in.

    February 21, 2014

Wow, so local for us. Is it OK if me and my wife don't meet the group at Archway tube, but meet outside all outside the cemetery? That way we only have to cross the road when leaving home
    Cheers

  • Francesca

    Hi Robert
Because I can't do much walking in one day is it ok if I meet you at Archway tube then get a bus up to the cemetery? I know the area so it'll be easy to find and I can meet you at the entrance to pay.

    February 21, 2014

    • Robert

Yes, we will meet you at the entrance.

      February 21, 2014
