Board Games on Saturday

Every week, London-on-Board hits The Old Star pub in Westminster for a few pints, some good pub grub, and of course, lots and lots of board games.

We're immediately across the road from St. James' Park tube station, so it really can't get more convenient, and we're normally there for 9 solid hours of gaming goodness!!!

Newbies especially welcome and if you get there at 11:00 a.m. prompt, you're most likely to not have to wait around to hop into a game straight-away.

RSVP's for all weekend events open up approximately two weeks before the event itself.

Special Note: If you're a gamer visiting London from abroad, and would like to attend one of our meetups, send a message to one of the organisers (Jeff or Martin) with the dates you are in London and we'll make sure you get a slot at one of our upcoming events.

Wow.. that is an actual thing! Not the one I was thinking of (also not a national airline), but bonus points of obscurity, or quobscurity, I should say...

Would like to play Game of Thrones (and can bring it). 5 others interested? Knowing the rules would be a plus, but if you don't we can teach.

New family commitments are going to keep me from showing that early.

Everyone, we still have a few openings for game of thrones if people would like to join. Starting early, but can teach if you don't know it.

Nadine (and any other interested parties), what time would you like to playtest my KS-themed prototype?

We need at least 3 folk, so one more. Up to 6.

I haven't played Agricola in a while, so I'd like to play that... anyone up for that? I don't own an English copy, though.

Will be running another session of Arkham Horror at 11:00 - it's a board-gaming classic - cooperative, with a sci-fi/horror theme, and a lot of dice-rolling/monster-fighting. Newbies to the game especially welcome... send me a private message if you'd like to play...

Yup, there will always be people arriving for their first session and we are pretty good at teaching all the games now, so don't worry if you don't know any of them. Heck, I've been going for about half a year now and still have only played about 20% of the games that usually show up on the bar! The only main thing to expect is fairly long rules explanations; sometimes these can take half an hour or so, while other simpler games can be explained in 5 minutes. Closer to the date of the event there will be lots of threads popping up on here with people saying they are bringing a certain game and are looking for people to play with. These have the advantage of letting you read the rules beforehand so you have a good idea about what is going on in advance, but most people simply turn up, stands around the bar until someone says 'I want to play X, who wants to join me' and then however many people go off to do that, and at least one of them won't have played it.

So I'll bring Game of Thrones, Dixit, Werewolf and Resistance second edition probably, hangover permitting. Happy to teach GoT if there's newbies who want to play, it takes around 3-4 hrs depending on how much of a bastard everyones being (usually very!)

Ooh, werewolf? Only ever played this with friends on a forum, would love to actually play it out properly

It's a lot of fun, we ll need a fair few people and preferably some booze:) Oh and never play with Bonnie Kate...
