Tuesday night gaming

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 50 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

Top Oder Flop: still unsure which.
Kakerlaken Poker Royale: more studying faces.
    Arne Junior: Fast and loose.
    Loopin' Louie: Supreme childish silliness

Krosmaster Arena - Much better as a 2v2 team game with a good deal of tactics to try to get the most out of your character combination. Clearly a lot of strategy in putting together a good team of different characters for regular/tournament play, which is of course lost when played casually with random characters. It seemed to only be a matter of how Pouria and I were going to finish Will and Jason off and win, but suddenly everything went to hell due to a couple of poor decisions and unlucky dice rolls.
    .....
Blood Bowl: Team Manager - Good, fun, card game with hilarious, unlikely dice rolls - a sort of 4-player, Ameritrash version of Battle Line. Too many different factions and cards to learn to play well for me to really like it (but not a problem and offers lots of variety if played regularly).
    .....
6 Nimmt! - Always great fun.

Accidentally found myself in the 18XX corner and discovered that the group consists of actual humans. As a result, had a good time being reminded why the UK rail network is the way it is: there were not enough brown rail tiles to upgrade any of the network junctions outside London, so all journeys must begin or end at London. It is also clear that HS2 cannot have any curves in it (assuming it is ever built before the bank goes bust... again) because there are none left.

    Off to a slow start start while getting a few newcomers into games so that was OK. Ended up with a bit of a bluffing game focus (or did I?). Citadels, Cash N Guns, Coup, Perudo, 6 Nimmt. Given the pervasive Avalon/Resistance movement, surprised I didn't get roped in (-;

Because of you I didn't get my daily fix of avalon.

Yay! Played no-sucky games tonight although I think the Avalon hive-mind absorbed some of our potential players. Played Love Letter, Alhambra, Carcassonne: Winter Edition, Little Prince: Make Me A Planet and then Ark Of The Covenant.

Hosting twice in a week - this is keen (-; Well, you know the drill by now; I'll be there around 6 so if any folks (esp newcomers) need a hand getting into a game, track me down and we'll get you fixed. If anyone is planning something relatively 'newbie-friendly' please pop it up here.

@Mick: You do not need to pre-arrange anything. Most games are simply arranged hanging around the games table and suggesting / joining in on anything you fancy. Pre-arranged games are usually only if there something specific you would like to play and for complex games where it is necessary to read the rules beforehand.

@Mick, as Soren says, its all pretty informal really (despite appearances!). Look out for me when you arrive.

Only Maria-Luisa and I so far so you are in with room for one more. I have the six extra "common" kickstarter strech goal characters so that we have choices in picking our teams. Did you kickstart one of the higher levels with expansion packs?

      September 1, 2013

    • Mark H.

Yep I have the expansion packs

      1 · September 1, 2013

    I'll try to bring Karnag.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
