Tuesday night gaming

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 50 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

Was anybody playing Munchkin Booty with the dice expansion because I have one of your D10s which was found yesterday by the bar staff?

    November 14, 2013

  • Nathan

Great game of Fresco where my double scroll übermove nearly won if for me, but Jason robbed me as I ground to a halt afterwards. Fabio and Stuart were grouped very close also. This was followed by a brutal game of Colosseum - apparantly I could not change my mind over a move even when my move was still going! Teri's poets, priests and horses put on the best show, Jacobs sausage fest parade of hunky gladiators and strapping sailors came in a close second. My dudes fighting lions with the occasional poet thrown in for laughs was not enough, and neither were Joe's fancy chariot racing or Lloyd's gladiators on horseback. Good fun though, maybe a good game to play with nicer people? ;)

    November 13, 2013

    • Nathan

Teri paid for siding with everyone else in a game we played yesterday. A takesie-bakesie on your turn when it is still your turn and no one else has been affected should be allowed. You all suck.

I loved the game, but do the rules really specify quite so many instances of the Bickering Phase?

      1 · November 14, 2013

Aargh!Tect/Ugg-Tect - Good, dumb, fun, gestures and grunts only communication game. Arrunga! Arrunga! *shake arse*
    .....
Concordia - Good, interesting game, although mostly a solitaire puzzle with "random" interference by and glance at your opponents. Unfortunately, nobody has any real idea how well they and others are doing during the game. In theory scores can be tracked but that would be very cumbersome and cause massive analysis paralysis and downtime.
    ...
Absolutely awful as a 4-player game. An essentially 2-player game turned into a 4-player game through the common "team-play" trick which adds nothing of value to the gameplay but simply halves your actions/decisions and triples (if not more) the downtime while blindly working together with your partner and with very limited possibility of planning your next actions due to wild board swings. The game may be and probably is much better as a 2-player game but I will certainly NEVER player this as a 4-player "high form" game, again.

Oh! That arse-shaking was a game? I thought it was just for the barman.

      1 · November 13, 2013

    • Soren V.

Aargh! ..... The absolutely awful 4-player game is Tash-Kalar (not Concordia).

Robin, Amy, Olivia and I built a railway in surprisingly sunny Welsh weather, up Snowdon. Despite feeling as though I was progressing nicely, a willful disregard of terms of contracts left me trailing at the end. I probably need practice, but I think I was distracted by the multiple novelties of railway construction, turning iron ore into steel and placing workers... Although this is the first time I have seen coal used to tempt railway workers to leave a pub in order to dig tracks up a mountain in the rain. Must be a Welsh thing.

Has anyone got Francis Drake and would be willing to hire a small van to bring it along? I'd love to be given a lesson in privateering.

    November 8, 2013

    • Bijmeister

      It is a good game.

      November 12, 2013

    • Derek L.

Which? Dobble, Lapins Cretins or Francis Drake?

      November 13, 2013

  • Paul A.

Played Tales of the Arabian Nights which went a little long but featured absurdly good luck from Riccardo and just absurd luck from Alex who won. Yes, I'll be bringing it again. Finished with Dobble which was not only stressful but violent.

    November 13, 2013

  • Nadine

Played Lloyd's amazing games: Ugg-Tect (Karungu! Manungu!Kashungu! *hits someone on the head*), River Dragons and Zendo. Then some Avalon :) Thanks guys!

I left my umbrella, could someone please hand it in at the bar I'll grab it tomorrow. Thanks

    November 12, 2013

  • Paul A.

Apparently I'm teaching Tales of the Arabian Nights. Apparently, Riccardo, Alex and Csilla are playing.

    • Richard

Also, he may cut you off mid-paragraph. He does like to speed up play :-)

      1 · November 12, 2013

    • Riccardo F.

You'd be surprised what I am willing to try Richard :P

      November 12, 2013

  • Ronan

Would anyone like to join in some backstabbing, betrayal and bullying in Tammany Hall? Haven't played it in forever. 'Honest' Ronan. Have three spaces.

    November 11, 2013

    • Ronan

I will be down around 17:30 as it goes. Can everyone make it around then? We could kick off earlier.

      November 12, 2013

    • Antony

Work has gotten in the way, so sorry for a late cancellation I will have to drop out. But you have Tom to fill the gap, so that's good. :)

  • Paul L.

How did we get up to 56?

    1 · November 12, 2013

    • Wayne

Was it because you all love me so much you added an extra space to get me off the waiting list? ;)

      November 12, 2013

    • Paul L.

Back to 55 now so the fire inspectors can relax

      November 12, 2013

I'm bringing the awesome city building game known as Suburbia, with the new expansion. Anyone interested in making the ultimate suburban economy this evening?

    November 10, 2013

    • Fabio L.

I played Suburbia (base game) once and I quite enjoyed it. I'd like to try the expansion.

      1 · November 12, 2013

    • Haakon

Cool, would be nice to play you again Fabio. I remember you snatched a surprising win with your goals.

      November 12, 2013

  • Nathan

Ok, so people are putting stuff down early. I packed my bag yesterday while pretending to do housework. I will be bringing Colosseum, still have a couple of spaces and Fresco for afterwards. I think we also have Palmyra in the bag and some Essen goodies for Joe. I am just thinking I might throw Ave Caesar in the bag also, but I do need to save some space for Carson City. How big is the box Ronan?

    November 11, 2013

    • Tom

Colosseum is ace! Also Fresco, doubt you'll have time for both but maybe I'll be wrong.

      November 12, 2013

    • Nathan

Fresco I am starting as soon as anyone arives needing a game and we will play fast hopefully! Hopefully be done in time for a second round game of Colosseum. That is the plan, anyway!

      November 12, 2013

I will have Snowdonia with me, the spanking new 2nd edition.

    1 · November 11, 2013

Hey guys, just a reminder to change your RSVP if you can no longer make it tonight, we have some nice people and Lloyd on the waiting list and would not want them to miss out unnecessarily.

    November 12, 2013

  • Soren V.

    I will bring Origin again.

    2 · November 6, 2013

    • Nathan

Soren, I have the Peleppones: Antioche promo tile for you, remind me to give it to you tonight.

      1 · November 12, 2013

  • Lloyd

I'm bringing Zendo, by request and Seven Swords, plus whatever I decide late tomorrow. River Dragons is a possibility since I've not yet played my copy.

    November 11, 2013

    • Jacob T.

Fire River Dragon Chess set? Add some dice and I'd actually play this chess set http://www.amazon.co....

      November 11, 2013

    • Shehzad A.

I would also like to play but I can't get there until 8ish so please do not wait for me. Next time

Ok great, I'll see you all tomorrow.

      November 11, 2013

We are going to play Space Empires with Lars and John. There is one more space, or more appropriately, one more empire if somebody is interested.

    November 11, 2013

  • Nathan

Ronan, you up for a game of Expedition Sumatra?

    1 · November 7, 2013

    • Jacob T.

      Twat on

      2 · November 11, 2013

    • Nathan

Ronan is in denial about his new favourite game. This is what happens when I try and learn a game from the rules past midnight, phrases like "can" magically appear as "can not". Ah well, mistakes anyone could make...

      November 11, 2013

  • Edward M.

To confirm, Tom I have Princes of Florence for you and Ronan I have £12 for you, Tom is giving you the other £13.
