DRAGONMEET: LoB will be running some boardgame sessions at Dragonmeet on 7 December. If you'd like to volunteer to host sessions/explain rules please see this thread.

Every week, London-on-Board hits The Old Star pub in Westminster for a few pints, some good pub grub, and of course, lots and lots of board games.

We're immediately across the road from St. James' Park tube station, so it really can't get more convenient, and we're normally there for 9 solid hours of gaming goodness!!!

Newbies especially welcome and if you get there at 11:00 a.m. prompt, you're most likely to not have to wait around to hop into a game straight-away.

RSVP's for all weekend events open up approximately two weeks before the event itself.

Special Note: If you're a gamer visiting London from abroad, and would like to attend one of our meetups, send a message to one of the organisers (Jeff or Martin) with the dates you are in London and we'll make sure you get a slot at one of our upcoming events.

Sorry, won't be there before 1:00. Being late as the host... not really the best example... ;-) But I'm sure the veterans will make the new members very welcome. See you later!

Out of interest, what was the result of the attendance?

It was very cold in the upstairs section today, I felt. Anyone else think so? The door outside the kitchen doesn't close properly and let in a lot of draughty cold air.

It was like that all last year too :(

Hello I have never to been to the day on a Saturday, so I have a quick question. Is it like the Tuesday night where there is a depository of games that you can just pick up and play?

    November 23, 2013

    • Will U.

I don't know what the weekdays are like, but there are usually 20+ Games on offer, so there's lots of choice available

      November 23, 2013

    • Andrew

      Ok thanks a lot :)

It is a very friendly group and you will be made very welcome!!! :D

I will only bring small card games this time. Probably Citadels, maybe Medievalia and/or Wizard. (Can't bring a big bag this time.)

Does anyone know the rules to Descent (2nd Ed.) and is willing to teach it? If so, we can break in the copy I bought from Ronan.

    November 17, 2013

    • Lloydy B.

Fair enough, but be warned: there'll be no game without a teacher. We're currently at four (myself, Clare, Gareth, Michael) and the fifth spot is reserved for someone willing to teach. If such a person doesn't emerge, I'll bring Eclipse or Chaos instead.

      November 18, 2013

    • Timo H.

I might be able to teach you, if I don't find myself in another game. Also, I know that Jason is more than capable of explaining it (if he fancies to do so).

Will be bring colonial and acquire

How did Colonial go last week? Am interested but not sure when I'd actually be arriving.

      November 20, 2013

    • Amarjit

Went ok, but I forgot some rules; but read up on it more so should be better this time.

Anyone have any spare card sleeves? Rather than make the detour down to the orcs next and being late, thought some people on here may have some spare in exchange for a drink /whatever change I have in my pocket. Specifically I'm after 30 sleeves of the large 65x100mm size.

Hi all, I've been down with the flu this week, so this Saturday I'm going to be leaving you in the capable hands of Timo as host instead.

  • Robin B.

Assuming I get in, I'll be there from about 3ish and wll have Snowdonia with me.

For a little end-of-night variety, I'm gonna be bringing the print and play of Two Rooms One Boom. So, stick around after your long afternoon games end if you fancy trying it. It starts to shine with 14+ players, I'm told.

    November 18, 2013

    • Michael B.

I would be up for trying it, but I imagine it gets quite vocal and as we only have two rooms it might be a bit inconsiderate towards those who don't want to play as we would be arguing throughout the entire space.

      November 18, 2013

    • Lloydy B.

If it is too much, at least it's over in 15 minutes as the time limit is an important part of the game. We'll have to trust people to moderate themselves and, if they can't, we can resort to Avalon.

      November 19, 2013

  • Michael

I'll be bringing Zombies!!! and a few expansions.

    November 18, 2013

  • James B.

Newbie to board games (excepting the most obvious: Ludo, monopoly, chess etc) I look forward to a fun day!

Hi. I will be a newbie at this. I've been aware of LoB and wanted to come for a while. I just never quite seemed to get it together (or perhaps I mean 'pluck up the courage'?!) until now.

See my profile for an idea of the sort of games I like. I'm look forward to meeting some like-minded folks. I should be there at or soon after 11am. Happy to join in with whatever hits the tables ...

Last weekend I can make until after Christmas, so let's do this!
