Friday night gaming

Our 2013 Game of the Year Poll is open, to submit your Top 10 games click HERE

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 50 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

No Thanks, Coloretto, Small World, Cash n Guns (x2), Dobble and probably a few other small things.

I enjoyed very much playing Carcassone South Seas. Changes to the scoring system make it much different than original game. I also benefited from very amicable fellow players - Hakan, Stewart and Ed- thanks a lot! Next time I need to check some completely new games.

Super night. TransAmerica, two games of Carcassonne: South Seas, Ticket To Ride: Europe (complete with cruel victory snatch), mega Carcassonne and then Zombie Dice.

I have the following games itching to be played:
    Byzantio (cool area control game),
Gear and Piston (set collection with old school cars),
Dungeon Lords (never played before, but should be good),
Suburbia (never played before, teaching would be appreciated but not necessary)

If either interests some, I'll bring it!

I should arrive about 6 too.

That was fun, thanks! I don't think I'll ever be a dungeon lord though...

Does anyone here play Magic: The Gathering? I know it's more a card game, just interested in knowing if people here play it and whether people would be willing to. Cheers, Phil

Just to reiterate, all CCGs are strictly forbidden at LoB as they encourage cliques to form within the group.

LCGs (living card game sales model) however are NOT forbidden as far as I can tell, in moderation! ;-)

Morning everyone! We are officially full and have a waiting list. Please change your RSVP to no if you are now unable to make it so we can make sure as many can come as possible. Cheers.

All right guys, I am your friendly host, even if I cannot find the button which gives me the honoured title. Please reply to this comment if you are visiting for the first time. I will watch out for you and make sure you get in on a particularly bloodthirsty game, as it is a Friday night and we all need to unwind ;)

Great, we will have a lot of games lined up. If you are new to games, don't worry as we always teach before playing and if you know games but are new to the club then we will definitely be able to find games you are interested in playing. We'll see how many new players we have yet to come!

I'm new to coming however will there be room for me?

Want to play Carcassonne or its variants; South Seas (probably give the naff Friday expansion a miss), Ark Of The Covenant (with more shepherding action than you can shake a crook at) or Hunters & Gatherers (Stone Age meeple fun).

I'd like to grab the 4th spot if I may. Have played a few times before.

HI, i have only just got into gaming due to visiting a friend where i played & loved it. I only played Settlers of Catan & Carcassonne.
I am happy to 'learn on the job'
there is a possibility i will not be ablw to get there until 7.30 is this way too late to play at all? Though depending on work i may get there at the start.
Any advice for a complete novice!

    January 6, 2014

    • Peter

It definitely isn't too late, a lot of people turn up a little later - and besides most people play lots of short-medium games rather than just one massive game, so there's usually games starting and finishing throughout the evening. You might need to hang around a little bit until there's enough people to put together a game, but it's always a good opportunity to meet some people and learn some games by watching =)

I shall be bringing along Among the Stars + Ambassador expansion. This is a relatively short game (1 hour max) and takes up to 6 players, but space really only permits 4 at very maximum. Sign up below if you're interested.

I'm already full for this evening, but AtS is a wonderful game, and gets even better (although a bit more complicated) with the expansion! Use (or modify) one of the suggested sets, don't just pile in all the expansion cards! Also, if you have them, add the alliance inspection cards, they make a nice tertiary objective :)

      January 6, 2014

    • Chris O.

I do have the Alliance Inspection cards and may include them. As for deck designs yes I am very careful about what to include as it can cause problems.

Does anyone have the Heroes Of Might and Magic boardgame yet?
