Tuesday night gaming

OUR 2013 GAME OF THE YEAR POLL CLOSES ON 3RD FEBRUARY, CLICK HERE TO TELL US YOUR TOP 10.....

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 50 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

An epic game of Chaos in the Old World was had with Khorne, the blood god sated care of me annihilating every other god's minion in my path.

Slaanesh, God of the crabs fought back, desperately pinching the only two noble countries, his daemonettes giving crabs to plenty of cultists.

Spectaculum - Still very good, simple, quick, fun, stock market game. This is/should be the Settlers Of Catan / Carcassone / Ticket To Ride of stock market games.
    .....
Khronos - Very good, advanced, brain-burning, tile-laying game. A sort of three/four-dimensional Tigris & Euphrates across three different time epochs where major building construction and destruction ripples through time causing temporal paradoxes. A bit complex with lots of small rules and very AP-prone. I hate slow play but embarrassingly ground to a halt on my penultimate turn struggling even to find a meaningful, allowed action let alone a good one; resulting in a for me pointless, king-making, shit-stirring punt to make others fight and maybe leave scraps for me (which turned out fairly well, just stealing second place).

Lloyd did mess up the track with tiles, but my small, streamlined crew cruised straight through it.

@Pouria I think it's essential to use the correct rules in L&C to make the game playable.

Soren do you want to play Khronos?

Thanks for teaching me the rules to Lewis & Clark (on my third play of it!)

Wait Lloyd, are you saying that someone taught it wrong? Twice?

Three new games that I liked, Perudo which I would like to say I am normally a lot better at and .... Avalon? How'd that happen?

      Get out.

      Seconded.

Muddled through Ra, then played TransAmerica, mathsy Kingdoms and then a couple of games of correctly played Marrakech (before I had been playing incorrectly; carpets can only be placed on the squares orthogonal to Assam and not diagonal.)

There has been one or two requests for Chaos in the Old World, which I'm more than willing to bring along. Sign up below if you're interested, it takes up to 4 players minus expansion and 5 with. The expansion does, however, have the Rat, which some consider to be slightly imbalanced so be warned!

Will we wait until 6:30, or start right away?

      January 28, 2014

    • Chris O.

      We are starting at 6:30

Is anyone interested in X-Wing miniatures? I've got the fleets if we can get the space. We'd probably need 4 or 6 playing as teams so as to not be wasteful.

We could also FFA if preferred...and it could wait for a later date.

And I left the all important pilot and upgrade cards in my flat (or in a cab, which would really, truly, and deeply test FFG's commitment to bits replacement)

I'll be bring along Planet Seam (FFG edition) - a mid weight economic game with Zeppelins - plays up to 5 in about 2 hours.

I'll also be bringing along Canterbury - a fairly light city building game - 4 players, 1 hour

I will have Snowdonia and maybe vikings or Lancaster as well.

Anyone interested in Last Will with the Getting Sacked expansion?

    January 23, 2014

  • Dávid T.

If I'd say "I have 2 spots free for Study In Emerald" (which is for me the top game of 2013), who would jump on it?

    January 15, 2014

    • Dávid T.

Allright, Mike and Abby if you could please read through the rulebook, otherwise it takes about 40 minutes to enumerate ALL the rules . I'm happy to clarify on spot, just don't make me explain the whole thing. Feel free to leave stuff like zombies, vampires and cthulhu (most of the custom cards, basically) out of it, I'll just explain them if and when they come up.

The other 2 players (Kathy and James) already played this before, so we should be good then.

If anyone cancels I'd like to take a space.
