Hey guys! Glad to have played with some of you, with a little King of Tokyo, 7 wonders, Carcassonne, and finally, Avalon (which I must impulsively buy now). PS. In case you forgot, you can call me Mordred :)

Started the night playing love letter, love it.
Learn to play king of tokyo and flashpoint.....an interesting game where you cooperate with other players instead of competing.
Play transamerica. its like a fast-paced ticket to ride, which I like better. Finished the night with Avalon, as usual :-) very fun night. Thanks everybody.

Busy night. Taught and played Marrakech with a group of three new people (Maayan stomped us). Then joined Mike and his friend James for games of Ra (dice version), South Seas, Hunters & Gatherers, TransAmerica and Coup with Jobeda, Annette, Henry, Hendra and Lino.

I predict I shall spend the whole evening without playing a game.

Chess (among other common games such as Scrabble and Mah-jong) is one of the games people don't play at London On Board as there are other clubs devoted to these and this club is more orientated towards Eurogames. There are play-testing groups on Meetup where you may have more luck in finding players. (I don't even know if play-testing falls into the scope of London On Board's activities.) Sometimes setting up a game board and waiting for people to volunteer to play doesn't always pay off as people tend to gather around the communal games library table and discuss what things they want to play so they can split up into like-minded groups plus on busy nights it limits playable table space. If you attend the club just to promote one game rather than play various games with various people you probably won't be getting as much as you can out of the nights.

In the end, played Judtho Duo with David Archer after everyone had gone. Was a good but brief game. Really appreciated his very enthusiastic comments afterwards.

    January 21, 2014

    • Jeroen van den H.

@Mark, happy to teach and play! My +2 are not 100% certain just yet - if they make it, they will need little persuading to join in a game that involves chucking meeples into a faux volcano.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
