Tuesday night gaming

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 50 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

High Frontier with Ian, Lloyd and The Other Other Paul. Something of an event - my lowest ever score, thanks to a bit of a chancy strategy, some bad luck and Ian shitting up the outer solar system with his incompetent prospecting. Que sera.

The general consensus from my LoB Geekbuddies seems to be that it is a) more experience than game, perhaps and b) decent but not great.

Have bought a bag of black discs for Ian's next "mining" efforts ...

Quo Vadis (x2) (English, large box, butt plug edition) - Very good, simple, quick, voting game. Everybody liked it and many ended up playing it twice in mixed groupings of three games played; and two or three of the players wanted to go find a copy to buy.

Origin - Always very good, dildo-placement game. As usual it played out very differently than previous games - no growing all tall and fat quickly, getting stuck and having to practically restart - instead, my fat, pygmies conquered the world achieving a very large number of goals.

Spectaculum - Always very good, simple, quick, travelling circus game that is really a train game that is really a stock market game. Especially fun to bully and try to bankrupt 18xx-hardcore train and stock market gamer Tom. Clearly 18xx is overrated and does not offer many transferable skills. :-D

I especially enjoyed the bit where we got Tom to play a fun train game.

Played Carcassonne with the Phantom expansion, Marrakech, Ra the non-dice game, Cable Car and then the pub emptied because of the tube strike and was left playing No Thanks! and 6 Nimmt with a motley crew of non-tubers.

    • Tom

Yeah, something like that. You in?

I want to get started around 6 so that we can leave at a reasonable time given the tube strike. The rules are not difficult. Just take a look on BoardGameGeek and we can fill you in with general advice as we go.

Cool. See you at 6. I guess that is the great thing about a cooperative - you can help me out. And then I blame you if I die! Just kidding. ;-)

I'm probably going to bring ginkopolis, the capitals, and something else.

Because of high frontier I'm bringing samarkand, save doctor lucky, and glass road instead.

      February 4, 2014

    • Tom

      I'd love to try Samarkand.

Regarding the strike. You will want to be on the platform by 2200 to get the last trains. There might be a few running a little later but I wouldn't risk it. That includes the trains you are connecting to.

I'll be hosting tonight. If you're new say Hi! Also everyone make sure you update your rsvp if you can no longer come.

I'll be bringing Cable Car with me - a tile laying, route connecting game. Maybe also Ra, and card games.

Really? I thought streetcar was much worse. Not terrible but it's my least favourite of this type of game.

There's a pretty high chance you'll get in.

As a heads up there's a tube strike on this day.

    3 · January 25, 2014

Is there anywhere to secure a bike nearby?

      January 30, 2014

    • Jacob T.

A couple of people often come on their bikes (Bez for sure), there is a lock up place just opposite the corner if I can picture it correctly.
