Wednesday night gaming VENUE CHANGED

RED HERRING DOUBLE BOOKED - PLEASE GO TO THE MAD HATTER INSTEAD

Aftermath! Well I had a good evening despite the venue change. The room the Mad Hatter set aside for us was really good and they turned the lighting up too so we didn't have to play by candlelight! Played a new game in the form of Betrayal At House On The Hill which was great fun. Also played hardy perrenials Coup and Love Letter but also Marrakech, Carcassonne and Little Prince. Special thanks to Frederick who did the tricky scoring in an eight player game of makeshift Dixit; we had the Origins deck but no actual board so made do with pointing at the cards in lieu of voting tokens while he used the Little Prince scoreboard along with random cubes and meeples to keep track of scoring. I didn't see him waver once.

Oh! Who brought betrayal? I've been dying to play but didn't see it there last night.

I think it was Danny's game. Was good fun.

Great evening. And a real quick turnaround to the new venue. Thanks to Lloyd for teaching two excellent games, Homesteaders and Seeland. Finished with a couple of rounds of Koryo. And thanks to everyone for getting the new venue sorted so quickly, it wasn't so far away at all and it was a very pleasant pub to play games in.

Got there in the end! Carcassonne: Hunters & Gatherers (er, even if I had difficulty remembering the difference between H&G and standard rules), Little Prince (which I came tied for first in even if I couldn't manage my baobabs perfectly [missus]), and Dixit to finish (in which I was surpassed for first in the final round, bah).

We'll bring it back if people want to keep on playing it! Based on first play, it's likely to become among my favourite social/5-player games.

Hello, my boyfriend and I will be there on Wednesday for the first time. We play board games at home, and we are looking forward to meet you :) We will be there around 6-7pm, hope it won't be too late.

    2 · February 4, 2014

    • Lloyd

It should be fine. There's a chance people will all be in games when you arrive, but it won't be too long before a spot opens up for you both.

      February 5, 2014

  • Roger (.

So I am thinking of bringing either Poseidon (3 hours of accounting) or Core World (2 hours of card shuffling and combos)

    February 3, 2014

    • Roger (.

So I am thinking ofr bringing either Poseidon, hours of fun building trading route in the Agean Sea and making money to be the most prestigious ruler of the region! A nice and sweet introduction to the 18XX world (only one casuality so far)

      1 · February 4, 2014

    • Roger (.

And Core World, build your empire, rush through the galaxy, conquer new worlds, develop new technologies, train your troops, battle against other barbarian rulers and be the first to establish an hegemony (shufling cards).

    OK, all you newcomers, welcome to LoB! Obviously, all travel arrangements involving public transport will be a bit 'up in the air' but I hope to be at the Herring by 6pm. As host, I will do my best to get everyone into a game of some sort but if I'm not around when you arrive feel free to introduce yourself to anyone who looks like they know what they're doing (-;

    February 3, 2014

    January 31, 2014
