Old Star Saturdays

  • Mar 8, 2014 · 11:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Every week, London-on-Board hits The Old Star pub in Westminster for a few pints, some good pub grub, and of course, lots and lots of board games.

We're immediately across the road from St. James' Park tube station, so it really can't get more convenient, and we're normally there for 9 solid hours of gaming goodness!!!

Newbies especially welcome and if you get there at 11:00 a.m. prompt, you're most likely to not have to wait around to hop into a game straight-away.

RSVP's for all weekend events open up approximately two weeks before the event itself.

Special Note: If you're a gamer visiting London from abroad, and would like to attend one of our meetups, send a message to one of the organisers (Jeff or Martin) with the dates you are in London and we'll make sure you get a slot at one of our upcoming events.

Great as usual & thank you to Vika for teaching Sebastian & me how to play Ticket to Ride :-)

Good fun despite me missing last orders for coffee & cake and battered squid rings. Played the rather amazing Trains, two two-player games of Marrakech (never played it two-player before), three games of Caracassonne and one playing it with two tiles to choose from which was fun plus Settlers Of Catan.

One interesting take I've played with Carcassonne is playing with a hand of cards. You have 4 or 5 cards in your hand, play then draw back up. It adds a different layer of strategy to the game since you can start planning ahead rather than simply having to deal with what you draw, but it does depart from what the original designers intended.

Whoever has my copy of Avalon, please bring it with you next Saturday! I will pay whatever the ransom is, up to the value of one meeple! It has the lancelot, Lady of the lake expansions in it, if that helps.

Argh, just saw that I am on the list (rather than waiting list). Sadly I already have plans today. I'll try and come to the next one

Will I think it's mainly me and Jason that bring it and we both do Sundays more than Saturdays. I'll bring my (fully expanded) copy today.

I know it's last year's game, but would anyone be up for a game or two of Agricola?

    March 5, 2014

    • Jen H.

I just had to make a 10:15 appointment for today (and I already knew I had to leave at 2:45). If you guys want to wait for me, I should get there by 11:30, but if you want to go ahead and play another game, we can try and set up Agricola at a future meetup. Sorry for the short notice.

Looks like weekend work is beckoning anyway, so unfortunately I'll have to drop out; very much up for playing at a future meetup though.

I'll be there early but not so bright and will have games to play. Learned my lesson now not to bring too many in my suitcase. Scottie tells me "It can't take too much more of this captain" hey ho but would really love a game of .......................
