Bank Holiday Gaming at The Mad Hatter

Special Bank Holiday Gaming all day long from Midday until late.

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 40 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

We won't have access to the games library so please bring games if you are able to.

Please consider others when using more than one table. You really need to have the players to justify the space :)

Have fun.

I'll arrive around 6, adding Takenoko, Elder Sign, King Up, Zombie Dice and Gloom to the selection.

If there's enough space, and enough people interested, I'm happy to run Twilight Imperium - the grandaddy of epic space games. My 1st ever TI game was at LoB so it can be done!

    April 29, 2014

    • Chris K.

It's a really engaging game. I've been thinking about it all day!

      May 6, 2014

    • Chris K.

You do need to be able to cope not only with the time commitment but also the massive randomness :)

      May 6, 2014

  • JC M.

Any interest in a game of Battlestar Galactica?

I can also bring K2 and a few light games, Coup, Citadels, Masquerade.

    April 30, 2014

    • Jason

+1 to JCs comments, it's been so long since I played the base game I'd forgotten how broken the original sympathiser mechanic was. Also the humans may have stood a chance of escaping quickly on the final jump cycle had they not undermined themselves with destination choice -> high distance is all that matters on those cards... slow moving humans are dead humans unless they're both hyper hyper efficient and lucky but this is rare, managing fuel so they CAN make the big jumps is what wins the human game.

      May 6, 2014

    • JC M.

Yeah 3 humans 'might' have stood a chance against just 2 cylons in the second half of the game. And frankly, playing the sympathiser is a little limited.

  • Neil B.

Thanks for a great day everyone, can I put my name day for a future Twilight Imperium 3? That looked EPIC!

Happy to run another game once I've recovered - probably in a month :)

I can only arrive after 6pm, shall I take a slot by rsvping, or is it fine if I just turn up that late?

    April 30, 2014

    • Dan H

Edem as you were told this was fine a few days ago you can tag Neils RSVP. However other attendees should not make similar arrangements. Thank You

      May 2, 2014

    • Edem

I might arrive an hour earlier than I was tagged for, are you at full capacity? I'm fine with just lurking around for a while (and maybe have some food).

The pub are happy with us bring our own tables so as to increase seating capacity. A few of you mentioned you would be interested to bring fold down tables. I Think we could probably accommodate an extra 2/3 tables. Please post below if you will be bringing a table along. Thanks

    2 · May 2, 2014

    • Andrew W.

Dan - Update on the table front. If it helps I can bring 1x 5ft wide round table, 1x 4ft wide round/hexagonal and the 2/3 player table I mentioned before.

      May 4, 2014

    • Andrew W.

Grrr, 4ft hexagonal just broke going into the car. So it's just the 5ft round and 3ft rectangle.

      May 4, 2014

  • Dan H

HI Ed, is there any chance you could bring Concordia again, im sure we could get a good game together? Thanks

    1 · May 2, 2014

I'm afraid I'm not going to make it now.

      May 4, 2014

:( does anyone else a copy they fit in their bag?

      May 4, 2014

Anyone up for.. Study in Emerald, Core Worlds (if someone knows the rules), Chaos in the old World or Carcassonne (Big Box + Count, King & Cult)?

      Great, see you at 12.

      April 30, 2014

    • Jacob T.

Ben don't worry about Gears of War thanks, it looks like I'm only going to be there for some of the day. Think I'm just going to buy another squad based sci-fi game as well, so no need to test GoW :)

      May 4, 2014

  • Bijmeister

Maria - do u have Race for the galaxy with expansions?

    May 1, 2014

    • BenjaminS

I'll bring RFTG with the first two expansions. 1-6 players, no brink of war.

Is there going to be a meetup on Sunday as well, or is this going to be the only bank holiday meetup?

    1 · April 30, 2014

    • Shehzad A.

actually there is now a saturday meetup for those interested.. (free publicity as numbers are low at the moment)

      1 · May 2, 2014

    • Edem

      I knew it! :D

      May 2, 2014

  • Dan H

Just to clarify this is the only meetup this weekend. There is no event on the Saturday or Sunday due to refurbishment work at the Old Star. Please only come if you have RSVPed the event. Our normally capacity at the venue is 40 people but we have already expanded the event to 50 people. This is due to it being an 11 hour event and people are likely to come and go a little. However at peak times it will be too crowded if people attend that do not have a confirmed spot. Thank you.

    April 30, 2014

    • Shehzad A.

Just to bump up the numbers there is now a saturday meetup!

      May 2, 2014

  • Emily C.

Hi I'm new to boardgame as well as London, may I just come and watch you guys play?

    May 2, 2014

    • Emily C.

      I See Thanks a lot Dan! :)

      May 2, 2014

    • Graham M.

Feel free to join the waiting list - it is long, as Dan said, but sometimes a lot of people do cancel in the last 24 hours so you might be lucky. Also, whenever you do ge to a meeting, do feel free to join in - a lot of games have someone playing for the first time . There is probably more choice at the Red Herring venue as we keep a stock of games there.

      May 2, 2014

  • Andrew W.

I am able to bring a fold down table. It's about 1/3 the size of the pub tables - and maybe just a little lower height wise - but it would be fine for a 2-3 player game.

    1 · May 2, 2014

    • Dan H

      ok that sounds good

      May 2, 2014

  • Nicolas O.

I can only make it aroung 15.30ish. Is it too late?

    May 1, 2014

    • Jason

Yes, exactly. allowing for max capacity +5-10% is much less faff also allows for a few no shows as well as the part-timers. Small risk things get 'rather tight' if ever everyone shows up at the same time but 98% of the time it'll be a very efficient way to operate. I fully support the organisers doing this to make the best use of space (particularly heading into summer when things usually quieten down a bit).

      1 · May 2, 2014

    • Csilla

15.30 is fine. See you on Monday.
