Tuesday night gaming

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 55 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

World Cup Game - Good, fun, hand management, majority control game to play every couple of years when the World Cup / Euro is on. Hot tip of the day: This thorough, scientific simulation showed that Switzerland will win the World Cup after a seemingly never ending stream of destructive defensive play and a few well-timed goals.
    .....
Dungeon Of Mandom - Still, very good, fun, deduction, push your luck game. Very clever how you need to continue until (hopefully, just before) you are doomed, but may then be abandoned by the other players.

Good luck. I cannot see how that can possibly fail. The Switzerland odds were probably better than Spain's are today.

      One down, six to go.

Played Robinson Crusoe again. I remain slightly sceptical about the game - it's super fiddly and there's all the usual issues of coops. But Val knows his stuff and drove us along well, so we had a good time get bitten by snakes, depleting the fish in rivers and being snowed on. Quite the miracle we survived. Followed up with Ra, where as is traditional, I remembered how to play just before the game ended.

Great game of Eclipse last night. Thanks to Andy, Rob and Mathieu for being very worthy opponents and for the strategy lessons!

Thanks for the lesson, and notable commitment to the cause for cycling all the way to work and back to pick up the missing pieces...

So... minus 14 points is good when you're teaching Dungeon Lords, right?

Wildcatters, 3 player for the first time. Makes for a different experience, with a lot of areas not triggered and everything seeming much tighter. Thanks to Pouria and Eric for the game. Soren challenged us to identify a strategy - I have the secret formula, but I am not telling... Then a couple of rounds of Dungeon of Mandom. Reminds me of Skulls and Roses with a bit more content. Best overheard comment of the evening: Paul A. "I've invented the bed."

Eric's last week before heading off to Singapore. Hope you find some great gaming - it's been a real pleasure gaming with you over the last few months.

Thanks to Amarjit for bringing the game and dropping out of Wildcatters and for Paul to helping us set up (including working out how to extend the pub table).

Had a very good time today. First time I've brought Robinson Crusoe and it was an absolute success with John, Paul and Kush. I think I may have been a bit pushy with 'build the short-cut at last!', really sorry, but I'm getting like that by the nature. Had an awesome Lords of Waterdeep game against Stuart and Cyrus. Nice to play it with pros ;)

    2 · June 11, 2014

    • Stuart (.

Yes, thank you for the surprise second game of Lords Of Waterdeep at the end. Was a treat to play it twice in one evening. And we whizzed through it too!

Need castaways for Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island. Such a long title! Co-op worker placement game for up to 4p. Happy to teach. Looking to start at 5:45. Game usually takes 3 hours unless we are ripped apart by wild animals or frozen to death at the very beginning.

    • Val

I have 3 copies of it actually. It helps really.

      June 8, 2014

    • Val

It was awesome to play Robinson Crusoe. I wasn't actually expecting we would win, but it went smooth and we never had a situation 'We all going to die!!'. I'll be away until next Tue. I think I'll be able to make it to LoB on Tue next week, unless I'm stuck in traffic. That do you say we give a go to the second scenario next week same time?

Busy night which is always good! Began with the World Cup game (@BK - that's a big soccer tournament). Switzerland beat Argentina in the final - you heard it first here folks! Then a *long* (but very close) game of Cosmic Encounter. Great fun all round, as usual.

    June 10, 2014

  • Frederic H.

A tense game of Abluxxen during which I held my NERVES OF STEEL to win, and then Carcassonne where I very almost made an improbable victory, until it turned out to be, well, improbable. Then, alas, I had to cry off with a sore throat.

Bringing Montego Bay. @Lloyd any plans? I'd quite like to try Jaeger & Sammler.

You four play Palaces, I'll try and rope people into Montego Bay :p Still keen to play J&S another time though :)

Would anyone be willing to bring and play Cosmic Encounter? Have been wanting to try this for a long time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've heard and the rulebook, it seems it's one of the "easy to learn, diffcult to master" games.

    June 9, 2014

Great! I'm sure I'll find something short to begin with.
