NEW VENUE - Gaming at The New Moon

New Venue near Bank Station. Please come down and try our newest venue out as the more feedback we get the more we can find the best gaming venues in town. Thanks.

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 65 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

We will not have access to the games library so please bring games if you can.

Have fun.

Great fun, once I'd survived the walk in the heat. :-( Alien Frontiers proved to be as much fun second time around though I mistimed my push for victory. A stock market prototype whose name I have forgotten but which showed promise. 6 Nimmt with lots of players was chaotic, in a good way, but one of these days I'll get peeps to try Profi version. And then a narrow win at Race For The Galaxy to round things off. Excellent.

The stock market prototype doesn't yet have a name! Suggestions welcome...

The number of and size of tables were a problem. I was there with my partner for an hour, we couldn't get a game or a table to play by ourselves at - so we left. The venue was also unconfortably warm.

Audrey, I'm sorry to hear. Hopefully we'll see you at another meetup soon and you'll have a better time.

Jo if your coming I would be happy to bring Galaxy Trucker

    Wonderful fun.

Great night, the Villains killed Dr Strange and whilst I managed to take out numerous innocent bystanders John managed to defeat Dr Strange more times than the rest of us: still Legendary Villains was a lot of fun. Followed up with Love Letter (Sherine won, Paul 2nd and I had zero points), Spectaculum (Paul and I ended up looking like the Brazilians playing Germany) and Blackrock City (hmmmmmm).

    July 17, 2014

  • Simon H

Interesting new venue, big thanks to Ronan for continuing to seek these out. As others have already said, it does suffer from small table syndrome. Played a very close game of Alien Frontiers, an interesting stock market prototype, a quick few rounds of 6 nimmt then a v quick Race for the Galaxy.

    1 · July 17, 2014

Thanks for teaching me Alien Frontiers, and testing my stock game! Very fun night.

Bringing Robinson Crusoe - A coop game easy for new players to learn. The cursed island beat us Saturday, will it do so again?

    1 · July 13, 2014

    • Andrew W.

Another two attempts at breaking the cursed island end in failure. And despite the second group showing early promise, and eating the last two remaining biscuits, the outcome was the same - death by starvation!

      1 · July 16, 2014

    • Tobias M.

Was great fun! Death stalked us at every turn!

      July 17, 2014

  • Sherine

Thanks all for a lovely evening all and nice new venue. Played Felix the Cat, Love Letter, Spectaculum and Black Rock City. Always good to play with Paul L, Oby, Nathan, Teri and of course Lloyd :)

    Small tables

    July 16, 2014

  • timoon

Drinks are more expensive but the food is cheaper, when compared with other location; but we do need bigger tables,
Or we could make it a special venue for mainly small games..

    July 16, 2014

  • Tommy H

I liked the new venue, but working air con and larger tables would be good. We were at capacity and I dont think we had 100% turn out.

    July 16, 2014

  • Zoltan

The room was spacy, good atmosphere, hidden boxes (let's say) but not enough tables and most not with the right size. Not my favourite place but I will definitely come again.

    July 16, 2014

  • Robert N.

I'll bring Betrayal at house on the Hill (1st edition with updates) if I can find it, OR Lords of Waterdeep. Any votes at this late hour?

    1 · July 16, 2014

    • Zoltan

Thanks for the game gents, really enjoyed bein slaughtered, hope I can have my revenge once!

      July 16, 2014

    • timoon

      Thanks for the game..

      July 16, 2014

To Charlie: your stock market game was pretty good. I am looking forward to playing it again.

      Yup, I'll kickstart that!

      July 16, 2014

    • Zoltan

      Then I'll buy in!

      July 16, 2014

  • Roger (.

An unconvincing venue - small tables (carcassonne would not be playable with extension), and not enough of them (people waiting at the bar), of different height, darkish corners, weird spread.

    July 16, 2014

    • Jobeda A.

I quite liked the spread, but yeah, tables were a bit small.

      July 16, 2014

  • Jobeda A.

Very nice pub. Nice job, whoever found it. And obviously nice people too ;-) Thanks again for GT, Justin!

    July 16, 2014

  • Roger (.

so we played a stream of games increasing the difficulty step by step and finishing with Port Royal. I also learned French as taught by Lloyd...

    July 16, 2014

  • Mike H.

I have the Front Nine, City, Mit List, Sticheln, Mainline, and a "homemade" Abluxxen, if anyone gets there early and wants to start early.

    July 16, 2014

  • Joachim

I'll bring Race for the Galaxy OR Ascension (since I'll also bring Firefly and weight/space has it's limits). Any preference?

    July 15, 2014

    • Edgar N.

Is it too late to put in a vote for Ascension? I can bring my copy of Firefly, if it will help your weight/space limit.

      July 16, 2014

    • Joachim

I'll try to put my copy of RftG into the box of Ascension and cheat the universe this way ;-) So I'll bring all 3.

      July 16, 2014

  • Jobeda A.

    Sherine's coming - yippee!!!

    1 · July 16, 2014

I have no objection to you kneeling... But you will have to address me as Zod.

      July 16, 2014

    • Jobeda A.

      :-p

      July 16, 2014

  • Jobeda A.

If anyone has Firefly, I'd like to try it one of these days. Thank you.

    1 · July 14, 2014

    • Lloyd

Joachim, I don't have my (Sherine's copy), so it's probably worth bringing yours along.

      July 16, 2014

    • Joachim

      Ok, will do.

      July 16, 2014

  • Paul L.

'Thats Life!' almost in the bag. And other games that have no claim to seriousness.

    1 · July 16, 2014

    • Lloyd

Taluva, Hanabi and a couple of 2 player games in the bag (because I neglected to remove them).

      July 16, 2014

  • Nathan

As this is a new venue and table size is uncertain (from the pics a few look quite small) we have games with mostly a smaller footprint: Expedition Sumatra, Modern Art, Spectaculum, Hab & Gut, Thurn and Taxis and some smaller card games.

    1 · July 16, 2014

    • Nathan

As a Legendary virgin (there's some fodder for Lloyd) I would happily try it out, and the extra rules from the expansion would surely be ok because it is co-op no? So I can rely a little on everyone else, or screw it up for them lol.

      July 16, 2014

    • Lloyd

      Go easy on him, John.

      1 · July 16, 2014

I have 1, maaaaybe 2 open spots at Hegemony (space 4x, no dice, no random exploration)!!! Fast learners recommended :)

    1 · July 14, 2014

    • Dávid T.

Hah, I already took the liberty to reserving a spot for you. We have 4 players now, but since the game takes up to 6, others can join if they're brave :)

      July 14, 2014

    • Mark H.

      Super, thanks. :)

I'm likely to arrive around 6.

    Alien Frontiers, Simon?

And always yes to an SF themed night :-D

      July 14, 2014

Any willing volunteers from the 'organiser' corps want to 'host' this one?

    July 15, 2014

    • Paul L.

I really don't feel like it but feel shamed into hosting.

      2 · July 15, 2014

    • Simon H

I'm sure a few of us 'old hands' will pitch in with a bit of newbie wrangling

      1 · July 15, 2014

  • Mike H.

Turning up early (5:30), leaving early (7ish). Will prob have The Front Nine and a few other short/small games with me. It's been a long time, but this is literally 1 min from the office...

    1 · July 15, 2014

  • Andrew W.

Could an organiser pls tell me the situation with under 18s? I believe its legal to take u18s into a pub if accompanied by an adult these days, is it ok for me to add him as a +1

    July 14, 2014

    • Paul L.

Sorry no under 18s at LOB meetups

      July 14, 2014

      Thanks for letting me know

      2 · July 14, 2014

I will be joined by a total newbie so will be running 4-6 years old games, like Survive and Carcassonne (oops, sorry Stuart!)

    July 14, 2014

    • AndyB

      No Russian Railroads then?

      July 14, 2014
