Board Games on Sunday!

Every week, London-on-Board hits The Old Star pub in Westminster for a few pints, some good pub grub, and of course, lots and lots of board games.

We're immediately across the road from St. James' Park tube station, so it really can't get more convenient, and we're normally there for 9 solid hours of gaming goodness!!!

Newbies especially welcome and if you get there at 11:00 a.m. prompt, you're most likely to not have to wait around to hop into a game straight-away.

Got to play Spartacus and then Top Race, didn't win either, but they were both fun. Sorry I had to leave early. Thanks to all those that played :)

Good day, Rocky did me a massive favour and I continued my unintended tradition of only playing games I've never played before and, indeed, games I would not have played ever without LoB and the Lobbers convincing me to give it a go: Liar's Dice and the Krokenhafen pokersheffen or whatever it was called with the Fledermaus and cockroaches (only one player can lose! And it wasn't me! *cough* Stuart *cough*) Followed by losing badly at Dungeon Petz as I refused to sell my pets. Now to say hello to people I think I met...

BSG is taking place again I have 2 maybe 3 players so far with space for 4 or 5 more.
I also plan to play a game of power grid as well preferably with the full six players.

Sorry, I'm going to have to pull out, come down with a pretty terrible cold and while I feel fine, I'm getting though a lot of handkerchiefs and am probably pretty contagious, so I'll give it a miss this week. Have fun!

Thanks for introducing me to both BSG and Powergrid. BSG is very thematic, but takes a while for new players (like myself) to get up to speed. Powergrid (against my expectations) was thoroughly absorbing and highly competitive! Definitely up for both games when they are next played.

Richard, up for some wargames? I can bring Andean Abyss if we find two others, otherwise we can play some more Twilight Struggle or I can bring something more advanced in the form of Pursuit of Glory?

I will bring Twilight Struggle but wanted to play something first

@ Stuart - You'll be more than welcome - You make 3 now so we're looking for one more :) - Of course I assuming Jeroen is taking part! @ Jacob - I have Arkham, with a few expansions that I would be prepared to loan you for the Christmas period, I sadly won't get to play it at this time as I don't think it's the type of game my family would play (ignoramouses (sp?) they are!) :( Also we have played it a few times on the Sunday meet-up before. I can't play this Sunday as I have a Spactacus game booked, but if you llet me know in advance I'm more than happy to give it a go :D

@Luca - Will bring the Crusoe... :) It's one of my favourite games ATM...

@Rocky & @Jeroen - If that arousing banter is hinting at a game of Spartacus, and there's room for someone who has only played once, I'd love to be included, if that's OK with all the other players...no worries if there's no room, though

Time for some begging/cheek: As I forgot to murder Merrick and steal his newly acquired Arkham Horror after he distracted me with Exodus last Sunday, and as I have the flat to myself for two weeks over Xmas I was hoping to loan either Arkham or Mage Knight for solo goodness while you are all entertaining your families and not needing your copy... Can attend most Meetups (to pickup and return as soon as you wanted), I'd happy leave a suitable deposit and the home is pet/smoke/cheetos free.
p.s. I probably will not have time to play Arkham this weekend at LoB as flatmate is cooking Xmas lunch for me at some indeterminate time, but would just as happily have a game at LoB the following weekend -I know it is generally thought to be a bit heavy/long for LoB hence the loan.

    Hi there
I know someone has "Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island" and I really would like to try it. Can we organize a game ?!

@ Jeroen - Will do sunshine, and don't forget to wash your loincloth! ;)

    @ Rocky: Bring the oil.

@ Kam - There are all sorts of games played, depending on what people bring. You can arrange a game before hand by posted something here, or you can see what turns up on Sunday. We tend to stay away from games like Magic, Poker, Chess and such (where there are other clubs that cater for these types of games). Also we try to stay away from 2 player games, especially when the meeting is full, so we can make full use of the tables. Have a look at the new member guide for more info. Most important have fun :)
