Monday night gaming

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 50 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

Played Hanabi to start & got a decent score with a couple of newbies, then Martin cheated at Sheepdog to take the win with the other 3 of us tied for second :). Got into Spartacus after that & beat Pouria, Csilla & Jimmy, still love the game & can't wait of multi-player fights :D

List of games played posted at http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/149504/games-played-at-london-on-board-12-11-12 - I'm sure I missed loads so feel free to add!

Strangely felt a bit noisy. But taught, played and loosed 3 games in 3 hours.

It could even have been better if I wouldn't have played so badly!

Absolutely epic four-hour six-player game of Eclipse. Brilliant fun - made my week! Now I know this game is utterly brilliant with a large lively group, I must do it again. Keep in touch everyone and let me know if you want a rematch when you're back in town - next time, either the Planta will spread across the galaxy like a weed, or my race will be wielding plasma missiles AND an engine wahahahahahahahah!

Much enjoyed of course as I won both Alien Encounter and Puerto Rico. I had a decent privilege in the former because it enabled me to get more cards. I came from behind because someone belatedly had to play the card where we all got our discs back from the centre, and then I was able to be in good defensive aliliances picking up more good cards. Best was that RHO who had the ability to take discs from colonies I avoided in attack and defence except once early in the game. I ended up with 23, 17, x3, x2, +5, +5, +3 and many other cards so I could be confident of victory when it was my turn with three discs out. In Puerto Rico I went for the first time for hospice as my first building and it paid off as I was soon able to take Settler three times and so get a quarry with a colonist on it. Two players took a tobacco roaster early and so the other two could have killed off my chances altogether by taking the third and final one. But I got good production going and the large market helped.

Thanks Martin. First timer who can't bring a game this time, but open minded and members seem pretty cool

Can I interest anyone in Memoir '44 Overlord? That big table in the back is the perfect breadth for some epic multiplayer WWII action.

I'm interested if we can get a decent group but probably not if its just two

      November 11, 2012

    • Joe B

Yes, agreed, two players would leave us rather shortchanged in the epicness stakes.

Hi! I'm temporarily in London, and in desperate need of boardgaming! This will be my first time in LoB! I don't have my games here with me, any chance I'll find people who like the same stuff as I do? (Eclipse, Battlestar, Tzolkin, Among the Stars to name a few of my current favorites) If not, you'll have to teach me some old-new stuff, and I'll try to keep an open mind.

I'll have the game with me.

That's okay, I've only played with the expansion once (and got beaten horribly). The game really shines with 4 and 6 players....

I have got Sheepdogs of Pendleton Hill and a bunch of card games with me.

Anyone interested in playing/learning some wargames? I'm willing to bring any of Bonaparte at Marengo (really good), Napoleon's Triumph (extremely good), Rommel in the Desert (one of the shorter scenarios), Martin Wallace's Gettysburg/Waterloo.

bit difficult to play it during weekdays. Might be up for a weekend play. Anyone interested in something else today?

I can play card games until 8pm then I'm lined up for Spartacus - I have 2 but it does play best with 4. I will be playing the short game, so if you want to see what the fuss is all about this would be the perfect time :D
