Wednesday night gaming

THE LONDON ON BOARD GAME OF THE YEAR POLL WILL RUN UNTIL 23RD JANUARY. PLEASE CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW AND TELL US THE 10 GAMES YOU MOST ENJOYED PLAYING DURING 2012.

http://www.meetup.com/LondonOnBoard/messages/boards/thread/29312392

If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.

If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 50 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

Another great session! Strange; despite the maxed out RSVPs, there was still 1 or 2 spare tables. Anyway, here's what I played -
Pandemic - played with 5 epidemics (medium difficulty), success!
Divinare - did spectacularly badly in the first two rounds, picked up at the end for a very close 4p game; 14/13/12/12.
6 Nimmt - a quick 'teaching' game of one hand, succumbed to demand for ...
Resistance - 6p game, victory for the loyal resistance despite my flaky logic!

    Pandemic defeated, second time ever!

Played AND WON Pandemic and also had a blast playing a rather odd game called Divinare during which I was winning right up the last freaking round! Would play again most certainly.

Will be bringing Netrunner. Any interest in wargames? Napoleon's Triumph, Riccardo?

When I had a look previously the meetup had around 45, so I thought we'd be good since wednesdays are usually quieter. Next time if anyone needs the table we can always stop playing, I don't mind qutting in the middle of a game if larger groups need somewhere to play.

There were definitely several tables left when we started playing (at 6) and I don't believe there ever was a severe shortage of space - a lot of people who had RSVPed simply never showed up.

Terra Mystica was a real smasher, very highly recommended. Afterwards, there were SPIES.

excellent game of Terra Mystica. This game will run and run. A full house for 7 Wonders and Divinare completed a great evening.

Have got Pandemic in the bag; a good newbie friendly game. If there are any takers I'll be there just after 6 as usual.

Running very late but on my way!

      January 23, 2013

    • Chris O.

Sadly we've had to start without you :( Please see Tom when you arrive who is hosting this evening.

      January 23, 2013

  • Martin S

Sorry but need to drop out.

Have 1-2 slots free for Wrath

    January 23, 2013

  • Dávid T.

If all goes well and my stuff arrives in London by then, I'll bring Merchant of Venus along and I have 2 more open spots!

Shivan: Well, it's a bit late, but if you promise to learn the game very quick (or read up on it beforehand), I think we can wait...

      January 23, 2013

    • Robert Y.

I can get there for 5.30.

      January 23, 2013

  • Paul L.

Will bring 'Clash of Cultures'. Looking for a start no later than 6 and 2 or 3 folks who have played before or those willing to read rules before the game as it will take some time to play

    January 18, 2013

    • Rich P

I'll give the rules a read on the train down, in case you need another player.

      January 22, 2013

    • Paul L.

So i think we have 4 - me, Ronan, Richard ad Rich. I will set the game up when I arrive

      January 23, 2013

  • Mike E

Well (most of) the snow has cleared around my way so Wrath is ready to rock.

I think I'm now hosting tonight. Will be there by 6.30 so if you're new say hi and I'll try and get you into a game. Bringing The Cave (one or 2 spots available still) plus another couple TBD

Hi Tom, two more people for the cave ( we are new to the game) !

      January 22, 2013

    • Tom

Hmm...we'll have to cut one but we can work it out tomorrow. Welcome to London on Board! I'll be there about 6.30 so if you arrive before just say hi and I'm sure someone will get you into a game.

      January 22, 2013

  • Peter D

3 spaces for the wonderful Terra Mystica. I can teach it if you don't know it.

    January 21, 2013

    • Nathan P.

Peter - if there is one more spot left, I will take it. I played it once before.

      January 22, 2013

    • Peter D

I think we have 5: Me, Ed, Nathan, Joe and Jeroen. I'll run through the rules for those who don't know and we can start playing as soon as Jeroen arrives at 6.30. With 5 it can drag if people are prone to AP so come at it with a head full of spontaneity!

      2 · January 22, 2013

  • Edward M.

I'd be up for learning Terra Mystical.

    1 · January 21, 2013

  • Mike E

Assuming we're not all snowed in I will bring Wrath but as it looks like two regular heroes are running late and I may be running slightly later than usual will probably look for a 7pm start although I hope to be there a bit earlier to play something else.

I've just finished painting the base Descent 2 box (http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/888734/my-painted-minis/) and I was wondering if is there anyone interested in playing the campaign in weekdays evenings...

    January 20, 2013

  • Tom

Ok, one more try. Anyone for The Cave? Spelunking in cardboard.

    January 18, 2013

    • Rocky

Go on then Tom, I'll give The Cave a go :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
