Looking interesting, how does it compare with Carcassonne?

The artwork is more detailed and one of the downfalls of the tile laying is getting over the silly mental block of not having to lay a tile the 'correct' side up; so you can have upside down animals and sideways outcrops of rock in the forests. Something that regular Carcassonne doesn't suffer from because all the tiles are sort of symmetrical with no distinctive features. (Or maybe I just have poor spatial cognition skills!) But it's an interesting version and I definitely want to play it again. Forests replace cities with knights becoming gatherers but oddly there's no completely forested tiles so forest-building is pretty quick. If you complete a forest with a gold nugget in it you draw a tile from the bonus stack and lay it as an extra turn. Mushrooms are the equivalent of pennants. The meadows are less of a hassle than the original's farmers; you just count the animals in your hunter's meadow but for each saber-tooth tiger you lose a deer. (The game even comes with green discs to cover pairs of tigers and deer to make counting easier!) Fishing huts can be placed on opponent's rivers and lakes (rivers the equivalent of roads and lakes road junctions) and score at the end by counting the number of fish in the lakes of the hut's river system. But you can't place them on a river system that already has somebody else's hut. And there's some cool bonus tiles like stonehenges that lets your hunter control a meadow regardless of how many other opponent hunters there are. Plus a bush fire that scares all the tigers from your meadow so you don't lose deer. But any game with woolly mammoths in is amazing by default.
