Live music and food at Brixton Village

As suggested by Naomi, let's go for some live music and great food in Brixton village!

There are lots of markets, restaurants, etc. in Brixton but in recent years the Brixton Village has been making a name for itself with foodies:

The village is a group of stalls serving an eclectic mix of foods from Thai to Chinese to Pakistani and several others in between. On Thursday and Friday nights they have live music - it's supposed to be an interesting and affordable place to eat with lots of character!

See you there!

I'm wandering in the arcade with a motorbike helmet. Grab me if you see me or text / phone.

Guys just a little more information about how to get to Brixton Village. Here is the Google Plus page with a map: https://plus.google.com/114516635905859818828/about?gl=uk&hl=en

I haven't been there but if you get to Brixton tube station and then walk to Coldharbour lane and turn left the arcade should be fairly close by.

Phone me if you have any problems![masked]

Sorry - hit enter too quickly! I was going to go on to say that BV is basically in 2 halves, split by Atlantic Road. Out of Brixton Tube, hang a left. Keep walking till you get to the corner of Coldharbour Lane (the Ritzy Cinema will be on the other side of the road). Turn left down Coldharbour Lane. You will eventually come to a x road with traffic lights which is where Atlantic Rd bisects C'harbour Lane. The DogStar bar / club is on one corner. One of the entrances to BV is diagonally opposite the DogStar, so cross Atlantic Rd, carry on for a few more paces straight on down Charbour Lane, and you should see the entrance on your left, behind some railings - there's a sort of tarmac area, with Kaosarn (thai /vietnamese - v good but normally heaving); that's probably the most obvious place to meet if you don't know the area. Have fun!

Hi James, I have been to Brixton Village a few times because a friend of mine lives in Brixton. It normally gets very busy on weekend evenings and very difficult to get a seat in any of the eateries. So be prepared to queue for a while or just grab a bite on the go. It's an interesting market and definitely worth a visit. Maybe even better in spring/summer when its warm and you can imagine yourself being in a different part of the world. :-)

I'm actually thinking of making this somewhat of a regular event - it definitely sounds like this would be great in the summer!

Hi - Petra makes a very good point about the weather: although the arcade is covered, if you end up sitting outside, it can be a bit on the nippy side. It does get very busy at the w/end (but consequently, much buzzier than earlier in the week). I've been there on a Tuesday evening and it's pretty dead (and not everything open). Unless you are a huge group, it's usually possible to find somewhere to eat, provided everybody is reasonably flexible. I also have to confess that having said I could come on 3rd, I will have to bail, as have double-booked self. Doh!! Any other time, though..
