Ta-Ke-Ti-Na: Life is Rhythm
In simple spacious stages, as a whole group, you create complex poly-rhythms, with voice, steps and claps. Losing the rhythm is part of the process, each time you refind the basic pulse you sense the rhythm more profoundly and intensely, building a confidence and a resilience, which frees you to improvise in the more chaotic phases of life.
A drum grounds the stepping, and varying call and response chanting destabilizes and re-stabilizes the rhythmic movements. This dynamic tension between order and chaos allows you to repeatedly fall out, and then fall back into rhythm. Each time you find your way back to the basic pulse you sense the rhythm more profoundly and intensely, building musical confidence and personal trust, which gives you a resilience that helps you improvise in life's more chaotic phases.
It’s safe and fun. It works regardless of your level of musical ability, from the rhythmically challenged to professional percussionists and dancers. Nobody is in the “spotlight” as all simultaneously go through their own process whilst being supported by the rhythm of the group as a whole.
