The long run of the month: Tring to Ivinghoe Beacon along the Ridgeway -11 miles

The Ridgeway is an ancient path that runs from Wiltshire to Hertfordshire, and this month we're going to be running the last few miles of it.  It's a beautiful route and there's a great view over the countryside from Ivinghoe beacon.  Unfortunately, it's going to be a there-and-back-again run, but on the plus side, it's downhill all the way back.

We'll meet at Euston station at 10:30am and get the 10:53 to Tring.  Tring's not in the Oyster zone, so you have to buy a ticket - they cost £10 return.  The run will be about 11 miles, and then we'll get some lunch in a nearby pub.

I will join happily, and lead an "easy" group, if there is anyone else who wants to run 11-12 min miles (on avg, including the odd stop for a sip of water, brisk walk up a muddy bit of trail, etc.). If you are interested, please note in your rsvp!

"Unfortunately, it's going to be a there-and-back-again run" - Apologies if you already know this, but there's an alternative route coming back through the forests of the Ashridge Estate to Aldbury, where there are a couple of nice pubs, and then you're just a mile or so from Tring Station for getting home. Some variation of the route described here

There-and-back could be good for accomodating slow and fast groups, however--as slow group could potentially cut a bit of distance. Not essential, but one "pro" of current plan

It actually might still work, as it's really a kind of long thin triangle rather than a circle, and slow groups could just do the 'base' of the triangle earlier. The whole Ashridge estate is National Trust land and riddled with paths. I hike out there quite often.

I need to get better at trails, so this sounds like a good call.
