Putney and Richmond Park (10.5 miles)

This month we will run from putney railway station to richmond park and then around the park. Total distance about 10.5 miles.

As usual we will finish the run with a well deserved pub lunch!!

The route is fairly simple so we will probably divide into a few pace groups so that everyone has a comfortable run. Depending on who comes we should be able to accommodate paces from 7.30 minute miles to 11.30 minute miles.

Hey All - sadly I realize I've got to skip this one and get a move on the flat-hunt (believe me, I would much rather be running). if anyone was planning to run a "relaxed" pace with me, I bet you will be just fine with the 9.5/10min milers in the group (I am slower), but if you are concerned, I'm sure one of the gang would be happy to help you figure out a pace-friendly route before-hand. have fun!

Apologies if you know of somewhere near there or I'm reading the map wrong, but from where the run appears to end (opposite side of park from Richmond town - about 3 mi walk?), looks like we'd need to take a bus to Putney, Kingston or Wimbledon to get to a pub for lunch?

I thought the same so my plan was to finish back at the station

hmmn...might be best to re-route so that everyone ends at the station - we know from experience that no one has energy for any kind of a walk after a long run. you could finish on the richmond side and do an out-and-back along the river, or small loop on the lower park, to make up the mileage...

    Hi Guys

Yes it is on the wrong side of the park but I think it's the simplest 10 mile route there are 2 pubs halfway between the station and the end point that look good (the telegraph and the green man) about 1.5 mile walk. Actually if we run along the side of the golf course rather than the park for the final stretch the pubs are less than a mile away, but I'm not sure if that's possible.

I'll look at a 7-ish mile route for anyone who wants to do less, or go slowly with me.

Hi Becca, this might be a good option for me. I have a dodgy knee so I might need to take it easy :)

Hi, what sort of pace do you plan for this run?

    January 1, 2014

    • vivek

Hi meabh for long runs we tend to split into groups with the with pace varying between the groups from 7.30 - 10.30 minute miles. The organisers all run at different paces so there's always someone who knows the way around. At the end of the run we all meet up again go for lunch.

Hi Meabh, I plan to go at a comfortable pace. Not too fast. I'm new to the group so I enjoy talking to the other runners. If I don't keep a good pace I could be coughing up a lung by the end and you Brits would never let this Yank hear the end of it ;-) There are a lot of faster runners in the group. The group organizers are great. Alan has always done a good job at setting a nice pace for me. Well, hope to may be see ya at the run.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
