Blackfriars to Greenwich and around the park (10 miles)

HI all

this months run is a from central london, past tower bridge, through wapping, down the isle of dogs, through the foot tunnel (under the Thames!!) and around Greenwich park. We'll finish at the union pub for a well deserved pint of meantime and a pub lunch!

The more detailed route:

Start at Blackfriars Station (main entrance north side) go down to thames path and run to the the tower of london then under tower bridge past the thistle hotel. Run through wapping past the shadwell basin into limehouse then down the west side of the isle of dogs to the Greenwich foot tunnel. At Greenwich we will run around greenwich park and blackheath in the clockwise direction. We'll then finish at the greenwich union (56 Royal Hill London SE10) for a well earned drink. it should be about 10 miles.

ok we did the shorter/slower run (6 mi) but it was good fun. another time, would start at a nice bridge on river instead of canary wharf, but the parks but was nice, the pub was perfect, and as always the people were best of all. thanks for joining, everyone!

This my first time running with the group, I am training for the Edinburgh Half Marathon. I am slow, but would like to do the 10miles and bring a plus 1. Where are we starting the run? Thanks. :)

Hi Ekua - welcome! per instructions and map at top of page, the long run will begin at blackfriars underground station, 10:30am. these runs are appropriate if you have done the distance comfortably before. if you have not, please plan to join us for our weekly shorter runs first. we look forward to seeing you soon.

Dear All - esp Megan, Becky, Gareth - here's the plan for tomorrow's shorter/slower run: (1) When/where: meet 11am, main entrance of Canary Wharf tube station. if you are like me, you find this station hopelessly confusing, so allow plenty of time to find the main entrance amongst the many miles of mall. here's what you're looking for: http://www.visitlondon.com/traveller-information/place/284198-canary-wharf-underground-station

    (2) Route: down isle of dogs, under tunnel to greenwich, and around greenwich and blackheath parks. should be finished around 12:10, 12:20. see link: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/412546538

    (3) Recovery brews and gnosh: Union Pub, 56 Royal Hill, London SE10 8RT

Please could you confirm whether you will be joining, so I know whom to wait for? my mobile is[masked]

Hi Guys. I am going to either plan a shorter route for myself (c6-7 miles), or just meet you for lunch if I end up running a leg with alison on saturday instead. one way or other I hope to see you!

excellent! so pleased I'll have company. details to follow tomorrow, but we will probably start at canary wharf or greenwich, and make the majority of the run around greenwich and blackheath parks. by the way, I like to take it easy (c10.5 min miles), so hopefully that's not a problem since with a small group it's best to stay together. ???
