Long run - Newhaven to Brighton along the coast (11 miles)

IMPORTANT EDIT

We are now meeting at London Bridge station at  8:30am and getting the 8:41 train from London Bridge to Brighton.  An open return is only £10, so it's up to you when you return.  Do NOT go to Victoria, please.

--

This month's long run will be from Newhaven to Brighton along the south coast.  After that we'll have lunch in a (still to be determined) pub, and then maybe take a wander round the sights of Brighton - the pier, the pavilion, and the scenic Lanes district,.

The run will be a (somewhat hilly) 11 miles, and it will inevitably be quite windy too, so be sure to bring warm clothing (both for during and after the run) and plenty of water.

An advance from Victoria to Brighton is £8 if you book now, but the price will increase closer to the time, so I recommend booking soon.  Trains from London Bridge are cheaper but they line up really badly with the onward journey to Newhaven, so we're not getting one of those.

Trains back to London are frequent and take about an hour - we normally head back from these things at about 5ish, depending on the weather.

Sounds lovely, but I haven't done 11 miles in a while. Maybe next time. Enjoy.

Hello! Thinking about coming on this, but will decide nearer the time if that's okay?

Not a problem - but unsign if you're not coming please so we don't start searching the station for you.

Hi Matt - is the idea to get the 8:47 train to Newhaven via Brighton?

What kind of pace will it be, I could do it but probs a bit slow?

I'm not sure how hilly it is, but I'll be running no faster than 10 minute miles (a bit over 6 min km) and possibly slower than that, if it's hilly.

I'll see about coming out, it'd be great to see you all. If I don't make the run, I'll definitely see you at the pub in Brighton - give me a shout if you want any recommendations.

There are some very cheap train tickets around to Brighton at the moment (£10 return) if we can decide which trains to get.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
