Where did you hear about this group?

I've been aware of this group for quite a while but joined the Hadoop users group recently so I got sent an email.

How long have you been developing with Java?

Hard to say, I've been on and off with it since about 2003.

What are your favourite technologies at the moment?

I'm really interested in the Distributed Computing / BigData movement at the moment. I have a little bit of experience with MapReduce on AWS and have been checking out the Cloudera and Hortonworks distributions for a college project. I'm also very keen to know more about the emerging JVM languages, Scala and Clojure and would like to know a lot more about the new NoSQL databases.

Would you be interested in hearing about any new Java permanent or contract positions at present? (if yes please add which would be of more interest)

Yes. Either. Especially if it involves Hadoop.

Introduction

I've been developing with Oracle database technologies for a long time now and I am very keen to move into a new area. I'm currently doing an Advanced Computing Technologies Masters at Birkbeck.
